"Sorry if this has been brought up, but does receiving the Executioner perk automatically make me enemies with the Minutemen? I was escorting Preston's group back to Sanctuary when the message popped up and upon closing it the entire group immediately turned aggro on me. I reloaded a save from moments earlier and am avoiding them for now."

What triggers that perk anyway? I got mine when I was on the roof, sniping the Deathclaw. When I went inside Preston and co were hostile. I mean, I was gonna kill them anyway..

for me it triggered as soon as I started to hit Preston .

I shot even before he opened his mouth lol so I never got the dethclaw to pop out

I’m not entirely sure what actually triggers it, but I think shooting Preston or the rest of the crew is supposed to trigger it. I was playing through and went on the roof and Preston is shooting the raiders when out of nowhere the perk notification went off. I jumped down and there’s Preston slumped over. I didn’t know what was going on but they were all hostile then.

I think that if Preston gets hurt enough while at this stage it triggers whether you did or not. I reloaded and jumped down and took everyone real fast and then everything was fine.

I see. So, Preston took damage from Gristle or Deathclaw and it triggered. That explains why he stopped firing at the Deathclaw.

Spitballing here, but: If you let them survive museum, could the perk trigger anywhere else down the road? Like say if Preston is your companion and gets downed? or during a settlement attack if any of the Quincey Five take enough damage near you? I'd test it out, but right now it's too much fun chasing Mama Murphy around the museum.

I killed the whole gang in the Museum of Freedom, continued on to the rooftop, grabbed the power armor, and continued on with raider killing just like in vanilla. So I still got the deathclaw to spawn like normal. I also got the executioner perk pop up when I did sufficient damage to the first of the Preston gang I shot at.

First off, thanks for helping out @uituit ; I wasn't 100% sure at the time whether it was a bug, but I had a save from just before leaving the museum to fall back on.

Anyway, I tested the save a few times making sure I did not hit or shoot any of the 5 on the way back to Sanctuary. But on one of the trips back, the group took a detour through the woods between Red Rocket and Sanctuary and was ambushed by some feral dogs. When Marcy Long took damage from the dogs (I made sure to hang back and not help them out) the Executioner dialogue popped up and upon dismissing it the whole group turned hostile. However, if they safely made their way back to Sanctuary, Executioner doesn't trigger and everything is fine.

tl;dr Executioner proc'ed so long as any of the 5 take damage from any sources, not just the PC.

I had the Quincy 5 go hostile despite not having attacked any of them. ?? I entered the Museum, got the quest from Preston and Sturges as per vanilla, went up, got the PA and minigun. Cleared Concord. Got the perk (somehow) and when I entered the museum, Preston & Co. opened fire on me! I killed them all, but have no idea why they went hostile on me.

The first thing I tried to do was shoot Preston in the face, but he kept healing and going on as if he was still essential.

Executioner perk didn't proc for me until I started unloading on Sturges instead.

I disabled the executioner perk luckily. I like the minutemen haha was getting the same problem :)
how did you disable it, I went into concord at the south so didn't have any dialogue from the guy on the roof, got them established at Sanctuary & Preston as companion , he got injured in a super mutant attack on TPB & it activated.

To disable the perk the advice on the Nexus is to do the following console commands (where xx is the load order of conqueror):

help excutioner 4 perk
player.removeperk xx0055a7

Then go and sleep for 3 days (72 hours), preferably not Sanctuary as Codsworth and the rest of the Quincy 5 are likely to be aggro as well. NB. The perk is currently mis-spelled as "excutioner", Kinggath is aware and is going to fix.

Could be a bit difficult if Preston is your companion, you may need to load a save from before the attack, dismiss him, hope the perk triggers while he's on his way home then try the fix. Of course you could dismiss him, shoot him with a pipe pistol till the perk activates then run away and hide till he gets over it.

This should be prevented in the 4.0.0a hotfix patch, though if you already went hostile with them, it does not resolve that.
