End of the Beginning Help

Hey all, I know there's a number of other threads but after reading through all of them and trying everything I can think of, I'm still at a loss. I simply can not get this quest to initiate, either by normal progression, holotape cheat, or manual console commands. I've also tried skipping over it entirely but that doesn't work either (at least via holotape). Obviously there's a conflict somewhere but I when I load up xedit all I see conflicting with the ss2_xpac module is locational and cell data, none of which seems to be relevant. How would I go about locating what might be blocking the quest start trigger? I'm not terribly familiar with quest modding and have largely confined myself to simpler edits so any help is appreciated.

"War is good for business" is complete, right? I have a guess that recruiting someone as allies then sending them elsewhere would stall the quest. That someone would probably be CPD as they have caused issues like this for me. Except it was the other way around, CPD quest got stuck.
(Could also try going south of Fallon's yourself in case you haven't tried that)

Yeah, War is Good for Business is complete. The CPD quest chain does seem to be rather bugged for me. I did try waiting a few days and putzing around Fallon's already with no luck though. I'll have to see if I have a save before I recruited any allies. At this point, I'll just do it my damn self lol.

That is correct. I just tried not recruiting anyone, completing the prior quest, and just sleeping for a week straight indoors with no success. I appreciate the idea though.

I'm guessing it must be another mod interfering but I'm unsure how to track it down inside xedit. Basic conflict filter search didn't yield anything useful.

Quests that fail to advance are sometimes due to script lag. does the Vit-o-matic come back right away, or is there a delay when you use it before the UI comes up?

script lag is caused by the papyrus VM running out of time in between frames. the creation engine uses the framerate as a kind of timing belt, and the script vm gets a small timeslice to do it's work every frame. anything that can't be done in that timeslice gets pushed off to the next timeslice. SS2 is very very script heavy, and even if your machine has no trouble keeping up with frames, it still could be backlogging work.

maybe just put your head down in a dark room for a few minutes and see if that makes everything better?

Yes, there's a delay whenever I do a Vit-o-Matic scan, typically 3-5 seconds.

I can't tell if your last comment is sarcasm or not but, sure, why not. I'll try being comatose in game for a bit.

no, that's the literal first order fix for script lag. go into a small interior cell with nothing to render so your framerate gets up to maximum, and let it sit and churn through lots of frames in a row with nothing much changing. you are giving the script engine time to process the backlog and get caught up. assuming it really is script lag blocking your progress, then the quest should fire while you are in there.

I found a nice abandoned shack with nothing in it and stared at the floor for 10 minutes while browsing my phone. Unfortunately, that did not help. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

ok, so it's likely not script lag. let's look at the variables. you said you finished war is good for business, right? can you run the following in console and see what returns:
Code:
GetStage SS2C2_Sirick_MQ21
this should return 100 if it's fully done.
same thing for end of the begining
Code:
Getstage SS2C2_Sirick_MQ22
if it's not yet started, it should be 0.00, but if it's anything else then that quest is started, but maybe not advancing.

War is Good for Business is at 100. End of the Beginning is at 0.

I've attempted to use both the holotape and startquest SS2C2_Sirick_MQ22 along with various setstage levels but no luck.

I have the same issue as so many others. Fortunately, I had this bug last playthrough and I knew to keep many saves around "End of the Beginning." Here's what I can add, but it's not much... IF I do NOT activate the radio to end "War is Good For Business," I am able to complete the quest using the holotape. IF I DO activate the radio, the quest will not complete even with the holotape cheats. In both cases, waiting around for days has no effect, I never get the "End of the Beginning" quest to start. I cannot skip to "End of the Beginning" or later using the holotape in either case. I've tried all of the solutions listed on these forums and elsewhere. Now, if I load a save from much earlier in the game (2 hours in) and use the holotape, I am able to skip past "End of the Beginning." This is such an awesome mod and I want very much to continue the story so any brilliant minds that have more suggestions would be appreciated.

I will certainly give that a try. Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately, that did not work for me. I really wish I knew how to track down what was blocking it from starting. Some object or NPC I could edit but I don't see any obvious conflicts in xedit.

same here. war is good for business is at stage 100 and end of the beginning at 0.
using holotape cheats to force compolete current main quest or skip to another with 48h ingame sleeping afterwards don't help.
every other quests even the unique settler ones trigger fine.
even the five defend settlements attack ones every 24h that annoy me (other topic)

skipping end of the beginning to the next one doesn't work either.
setstage over console does nothing. stage stays at 0.

i'm curious if you got same situation with the radio signals.
jake's private, treadwell and directed signal are active but static at the moment.
i had prior a situation that treadwell's archibald broadcast was played on jake's private signal as well.

Jake's frequency is still dead air, no matter what I do. I know someone else had posted that the quest could trigger despite the frequency not being active so I've been checking that as well.

Yes, i read about it too. signal/freqency being even inactive and clicking on it did trigger jake's broadcast.
Mine is active and clicking on it gets just static noise. i think on my end some frequencies are "mixed up". but can't yet find the culprit. at the moment my best guess is the "Nuka World Plus" Mod. but this is actually only a logical conclusion.

Because they set up a customized Radio Station, that one works and is only in Nuka World existent. But i also got Radios that has static noise.

And my Amount of Attackers Issue with the Defend Quests in both mods.
but xEdit seems to see no Conflicts with those two mods.

I've run into this exact issue again on another play through, though in previous playthroughs I somehow avoided it (no changes to mods). Some kind of cheat to fix it after it occurs would be wonderful.

2nd playthrough and all of SS2 and CH2 kicks in as quest and have no issues.
But "end of the beginning" doesn't kick in. event not with the holotape cheat functions.

"war is good for business" went completed, i read the note and chose i'm ready.
asked minutemen, brotherhood, railroad, cpd and nightingales to join.
being general of the minutemen, knight of brotherhood, agent of railroad, detective of cpd, and i think nightingale has no status or the status doesn't matter their contribution.

i'm at the point to go to find virgil in vanilla main quest, if that matters.

it seems like the script isn't kickin in because i'm missing a prerequisit.
