Question Companion becomes hostile during assaults with Civilians on Pre-Conq settlements

Soooooo

Any new save using Civilians and Pre-Conq always has the same issues, with any settings or start method: all Civilians, at every settlement, are hostile. I can work around this by running around and dodging the Angry Nerds until my Minutemen force downs them all (if I shoot them, they die, so I have to avoid them completely) and myself focusing on the legit hostiles (Gunners or Raiders).

I have previously been doing this solo. Today, however, I brought Preston, and found some new fun: as soon as any of my soliders down a Civilian, I immediately get "Preston hated that" and he dismisses himself and becomes hostile and attacks me.

Reloaded 5 times, same results. I did not fire a single shot the last couple of times, and it's definitely not me attacking Civilians that does it - it's if ANYONE does. Companion affinity is attributing the solider actions to myself. /sigh

I have followed all wiki instructions, watched videos, tried a number of different setups, and always wait until Conq has completed all actions before leaving the Vault. No effect. Every Civvie hostile, and Preston Hated That.

I don't think there's any workaround at this point - just can't bring a companion to Assaults in their current state, if you are using Civilians and Pre-Conq.

In my other saves, i use neither, as well as turning off all functions related to faction skinning; and Assaults proceed as expected (and process very quickly!).

Let me know if there's any data or files or logs I can provide that can help nail this down. I'd be happy to dig thru saves at various points to replicate and log at higher detail, if that's possible or useful.

EDIT: This happens both with "Outpost" and "Outpost and take captives" options, either way. Both have exactly the same effects and results.

I also got that same general behaviour, but think that is Preston Garvey and less to do with Conqueror. Tried bringing other companions and it worked fine. As for civillians being hostile in general i don't know about that, but in my latest play it works better than it has been so it might have been fixed in one of the latest patches.
