Commonwealth Custom Flag Pack

I’m quite inspired by the possibility of giving your settlements unique flags through SS, so I’ve set about to make flags for the locations I use most. This will include locations I have colonized with Conquest.

Settlements I currently have plans for:
Sanctuary Hills
SanctuaryWIP01.png (Early WIP)

Red Rocket Truck Stop
RRWIP01.png(WIP, more variants in concept)

Sunshine Tidings co-op
Starlight Drive-in
StarlightWIP01.png(WIP)

Hangman’s Alley
Kingsport Lighthouse
Outpost Zimonja
The Castle
Greygarden
Boston Airport

Walden Pond (Thoreau inspired)
Drumlin Diner
DrumlinFlagWIP03.png(WIP, nearly done)

I might make a series for the default Conquest Outpost names, but I like to change them to my own preference so that’s low priority.

If anyone would like to see their favorite location as well, give a holler and I might consider.

But only if they quadruple attacks by pre-war robots and ghouls if you pick a communist country. Because 1950's theme!

This is the Commonwealth... where it started! haha... maybe some country flags would gain sympathy from an enemy faction ... I would like to see the minuteman flag raise some patriotism a bit ... or the USA flag in Commonwealth, USA... just saying...

Yes indeed. I live here. Some history for you folks..... not trying to hijack the thread. FYI, the originals are 4000x 3000 px. Minuteman NP in Concord MA is in the top 5 most visited parks in the entire country.

This is... COOL!

Is there a gas station just off the far end of the bridge?

Haha, I don't mind the hijacking; those are some awesome comparisons.:) Must be quite a special experience walking around your neighborhood like that.

As for the national flags: I wasn't really planning on it as most would have very little significance to the 2287 wastelanders. But I do like the idea of historical ties and things like the Brits coming in to bring the rebellious child back into the fold 500 years after the fact. I'll have a look into it!

I actually don't live in Concord. I live in Lowell, about 15 miles north. For me, its about a half hour car ride to get there because of the highways & traffic. Lowell itself is very historical as well. It's located at the confluence of the Concord and Merrimack rivers. Before the English arrived, Indian tribes would farm the lands and fish in the river. Local historians have written that of two tribes, their combined population was somewhere around 12,000. The town of Chelmsford was incorporated in 1655, they traded with the tribes and had been actively buying land from them. King Phillip's War in the late 1600's decimated the tribes to the point where they sold their lands and eventually moved to Canada. The last Indian lands were off the books by 1726.

Lowell was the birthplace of the industrial revolution in the States. The reason? Waterpower. The Merrimack river drops over a series of granite ledges here on it's way to the ocean, most notably the Pawtucket Falls. A wealthy Boston merchant in the name of Francis Cabot Lowell and a few of our other town founders went to England in 1810 and got the idea of using waterpower to run textile mills. The English had invented the machinery, but banned the export of them. So Lowell memorized the basic designs and built a replica once he got back to the States. Lowell grew out out of Chelmsford. The rest as they say, is history. The canals that cross the area were originally built for transportation to bypass the falls. They ended up becoming obsolete relatively quickly by the building of the railroads.

I updated the latest Drumlin Diner Wip, which I think is close to what I want. Might consider variants of it.

Also uploaded the current Red Rocket, Sanctuary and Starlight Drive-in WIPs.
All three have potential for diverse flags.
I’ll get some in-game shots later on in the week.

I’ll get to fitting national flags after I’ve done some of these. With the process at hand I can set those up easily.

I had a thought today of making some of the lesser used faction flags. Things like raider clans, corporate logos and BOS splinter-groups.:)

Let me know what you think!

The raider clan flags would be a fantastic addition! I'm loving my current Wasteland Warlord playthrough, but it's kind of a bummer to have my clans flying the flag of what is (effectively) a dead nation at this point...

I think it would also be awesome to add faction variants - add the appropriate faction symbol to one of the corners of the settlement flag so you would have BOS, Minutemen, Railroad and institute variants

Thanks people, great ideas!:)
The restaurants I'll definitely look into. Some Vim propaganda in the Commonwealth would be lovely.
I really like the adding of faction flags to the variants, although this would make the selection pretty damn big. Categorizing per-faction would be the way to go then.

Now, I'm still kind of floating between pre-war relic flags (tattered, torn, faded) and designs that would have been contemporarily made by the settlers or yourself (inferior quality, patches, reused textiles, visible paint strokes) and I'll probably go for the appropriate style on a per-flag basis, but this will divert from a solid common style for all flags.
All for variation I suppose.

Work is slower at the moment as I'm fighting an inflammation and the side effects of the medicine but will get back when things are clearer.

Here's a small thing I did; literally the first bit of modding I have done ever. It works on my end; hopefully it does for everyone else too.

Raider flags (operators and pack)

Why no disciples? Because I wiped them out in my current playthrough, and I am profoundly lazy.

Immense thanks to Kinggath; his modding walkthrough is what made this possible!

@JohnLovely Have you uploaded to Bethesda for Xbox? If so, do you have a link to it please?

Nope, I haven't uploaded it to Bethnet. I'm not able to right now, so if anyone wants to do so, feel free to just upload the zip file straight off the nexus (with my name mentioned somewhere i guess lol).
