My question is: Where can I find a decent pack of city plans? How do I get the settlements to run themselves after taking them over? There are simply too many plans on Nexus, and then you get the various packs containing literally hundreds of plans. The city manager tape have no "Don't Bother Me" settings. Let me explain some things:

I never liked the settlement system. I don't build settlements, and I don't help pathetic villagers. If they force their problem onto me, I solve it permanently - the dead have no complaints. I have gone so far as to disable the Quincy 5 from my game - I really don't like Garvey or any of them. I don't think I have ever completed a Minutemen play-through.

Therefore I am also quite new to the Sim Settlements thing. When I saw Conqueror auto builds and manages settlements, I installed it - I prefer to have the settlements built rather than leaving them empty like I usually do. I like seeing the "life" in the wastes. However I seem to be forced to now manage and build the settlements I take over. Most plans seem to have some minimum build work required, like supplying power (none of the settlements seem to have power cables done) and incomplete food/water, and many do not have enough beds, and lots of AI pathing issues (many don't seem to be able to get to their plots and beds). Are the plans I have the problem, or am I doing something wrong? (I don't use any other settlement or landscape edit mods. I don't do settlements anyway. I only use Vault 88 as my base, with zero settlers.)

Conqueror also did not turn out as I expected. Jammer seemed to have lost his head after taking the first vassal. I did not want another Garvey, or to manage the settlements. Perhaps I can suggest a slight rewrite there, to not antagonize the player so much. Damn good voice acting BTW. So I tried a BoS Liberator play-through, it seemed a bit better, but again, I don't want the settlements after I liberate them. Can the faction I give it to not just get on with it?

No doubt I will be advised to watch tutorials. However, there are too many, and I don't really want/need to understand the system in such depth. Is it at all possible to add a "Don't bother me" option on the first screen? And would someone be so kind as to make a simple pack of plans that don't have issues?

Your frustration seems to be you want bustling towns but you don't want to have to manage them.

The way to unknot this is to just not take ownership of any of any of the settlements Conqueror prebuilds.

Install Conqueror. Prebuild any settlements you want to whatever level your system can handle. Kill Preston and the rest of Quincey Five. Kill Jammer. You will be left with settlements that are already built and doing there own thing. Whenever you visit them they will be full of life. When they ask for help turn them down. Just say no. You can hang out, shop at their stores, sleep in there beds, cook at their stoves, or you can murder the whole lot if you decide you don't like their looks. But you won't have to manage their daily affairs.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, this is what I am currently doing - I set the system to Ultra and ignored Jammer and Garvey. I get a little stutter when it loads the cells, but it seems to run fine. No CTD at any I have visited.

It does make a huge change to traveling, seeing all this "life" in the wastes, rather than the usual emptiness.
