Built Limit issues

Hi all,

I am using the Architect Save (Planner) file, by Eldarth, as Kinggath's was giving me CTD's. Anywho, all is well with it except for the weird build limit issue I have where my build limit is HUUUGE and I never touched those settings in the holotape or had a mod activated that increased it. Because I was worried about building so much, I tried using the tools in the City Planner holotape to reset the size limit to Bethesda sizes and recalculate build limit but nothing seemed to affect it.

So I decided to just build and eyeball it...

I consider my settlement "done" now but am getting messages that some plots cannot upgrade as my build limit is full, even though the green bar is barely 1/5 or 1/4 along. I can still build things happily too.

I dabbled in the Build Limit Increase Size for the first time today after getting those messages and it said my settlement was 325% over the build limit!!!!! Arrgh!

So my question is: why? XD

Can anyone think of a reason my build limit was stupidly huge from the start? O_o

(Note: I haven't checked if it's the same in other settlements...)

I am in the exact same situation as I too used Eldarth's Architect save.

After migrating to City Plan Contest quick start save it seems to be functioning properly but honestly the whole thing was pretty confusing so I feel unsure of where I'm really at, since for the entire build I had no real basis.

It is frustrating because I feel concerned that having too much stuff could mean disqualification. I'm going to give it time before continuing on it, to try to have a more fresh mindset. I already was essentially done at one point, then scaled things back a lot. Really not sure how much more I can dial it back, so might have to just go with what I have. No easy answers, though if my CP moves on(Where it isn't secret anymore) I am very sure I can get it sorted out based on feedback & help. Worst case scenario, I could upload it to Bethesda.Net under a joke name like to ask Sim Settlements' Xbox testers to give it a go and give feedback.

I can only imagine at this point that the save may have had something like a script attached,(Unless we both happened to use similar mod causing this effect without knowing) that passively alters the build limit which I guess would be convenient when making settlement normally. Or something to do with some F4SE mod kicking in somehow so I can keep building stuff.

I've never used those saves so I can't say if there are issues. I can state that when I was using project blueprint to decorate and place my spawnables and blue men, it seems to fill out my build limit really quickly. I simply decided to ignore it.

A complex build will not get you disqualified.
To be disqualified you need to ignore the rules. At this point is basically, not enough settlers, too many settlers, used mods, didn't use the required plots, desk or beacon, or shared your mod publicly before the end of the contest,

That would get you disqualified.

I have a fresh, mod less, Vault 111 save I can make available if you need one for testing. You'd probably need to murder everyone at the settlement, before importing your transfer settlements export. Should scrap everything too before import.

That would get you disqualified.
Even in 2nd round, if hypothetically mine does move on? Did I misunderstand the following?

Though open sharing of screencaps may be enough to ensure it's at least fairly good. And testing with Xbox testers if it is needed can wait till afterwards.

That's good! On my test version settler limit was too high, though I think I had accidental bed placed and a Residential plot standing in as I was testing with only Base Sim Settlements when troubleshooting the build gauge and there's no 2x2 martial, so I swapped temporarily via Change Plot Type to Residential. I wanted to test the gauge with all level 3s from Base Sim Settlements. But yeah the gauge is seemingly so inconsistent(or I have bugs affecting my game) that the testing was basically useless. All I really know for sure is performance is fine for me on PC, can probably add some decorating without issues though as far as Xbox goes I really don't know. Was stressing a lot about Complex build as it's pretty much guesswork if it's gonna end up with it or not, and I really need to decorate more but felt stuck. This is very reassuring.

I felt very stuck as avoiding Complex would probably requiring cutting things down but right in the rules is this
The Rules said:
Detailed - Don't skimp on the detail, little touches go a long way. Think things like clutter, wall decorations, and other little touches that show you've really thought about how the place would feel lived in.
I definitely feel that I need to add more details. Though if performance on Xbox becomes problematic I am willing to adjust based on feedback.

Very interesting, perhaps those are buggy in terms of how they're counted for the build gauge. As even on my current heavier graphics settings configuration I did not experience any worse performance(than usual for 4K, everything Ultra)

Export your settlement...
Grab Ms Vault 111 save.
Load it up and run down to Sanctuary so it's discovered, then run..
cqf workshopparent ToggleOnAllWorkshops
then
coc tenpinesbluff
or
coc oberlandstation
import your blueprint
leave... (this is important) Sanctuary would be far enough away
return
enter workshop mode... fiddle fart around.. exit WS mode
Reset build limit to vanilla Max..
recalculate build limit with the following command..
cqf kgsim_autobuildparent RecalculateBuildLimit none true
That will give you a popup that tells you exactly what you're using.
Don't worry about the Triangles.. it's the "Draws" you need to look at.

I do not know. I didn't share anything, and have not published the sources in my GitHub.

I am quite happy to provide general advice for competition builds, but to ensure that we are both within the rules, can't offer specifics.

Too much clutter makes it "complex". You'll end up developing your own decoration style. You've used my plans - you may notice I never place doors. I also tend to not go for finer details. I expect users to put finishing touches on.

Sounds fantastic. How many Draws would be the probable cutoff for complex? I suspect it's extremely low and if yes I will proceed while mostly ignoring it for the time being.

2500ish I think.
That would be end of optimized and the start of complex. Complex can be whatever...

Do I need Transfer Settlements for any of this? I haven't downloaded it yet.

Also, I also haven't done the "regression" levels yet. Was going to wait until everything was hunky dory. Do I have to do that for the competition or only if I'm chosen or decide to offer it as a plan later on?

ALLLLRIGHTY!

I did everything you said. That was very easy. Thank you :)

My pop-up told me this:

1032 objects
2736.000000/1000 draws
1036858.000000/10000000 triangles

So from what you said above, I should bring it down to below 2500 draws?

Also, my build meter is finally in the yellow! Haha! It was still really, really low, even on the new save. Should I increase it, as Kinggath described, and start scrapping excess things? I can remove the odd plot and get the population down to 10 instead of 13.

Thank you so much!

Very good to know. Do you think Complex tag may factor in a major way for who moves on or not?

You're right at the "optimized" limit. But... you can build as much as you like. IF you win, you could easily make an optimized version to go along with the "Complex" build.

Not at the moment. But I'd get it now and get used to how it works. (Really awesome for backing up your Kool settlements)
Also.. I need to get a bit clarification,,, but you might have to export the settlement & make a single level City Plan. Which is really just that simple!
Or.. just post a link to the save for the staff judging.
I'll ask KG here shortly.
But basically... I wouldn't worry about the regression phase right now. Just build an awesome settlement! :)

That's a relief. I thought I need City Plan done, Level 0-3 by the end of the month. Can do it, but what if I make changes to my level 3? That could cause problems if inconsistencies happened like moved plots

Never, ever, move a plot between levels. It's up in the top of my building tips.

Once you submit your entry, don't change anything in the plan. Until that point, change as much as you like in L3. Once you start regressing to L2, remember, you can never move a plot.

Exactly. I think I would just wait till after submitting entry to do any regression to L2, etc. Otherwise I might forget & change stuff that shouldn't be.
