The quest sent me to Breakheart Banks. Once the settler appeared, and asked me to investigate, quest had me kill mole rats {//}:{//} then find the family. The family was already dead and stripped of clothing up by the steamer trunk. I killed the mole rats (3 of them), found the family. But it still states I need to kill the mole rats AND that the marker for the family is about 3 feet way and about 6' above them. I went into TCL and went all around that marker and above it. Stood on it. Nothing triggered.

I'm on currently 1.0.8a... And still have the hiccup...and I have pulled 99% of my previous mods off of my F4.
Was your current savegame started BEFORE updating to 108a? It seems some types of 'fixes' like this one only work from a fresh save. (probably something to do with the way data gets 'baked into' savegame files, at a guess)

My current game was started on v1.0.7. I have not encountered Odette yet, so I can not say.

I'm sad to hear that I would need a new game to fix the vendor bug. :(

Think of SS2 as N ongoing beta for a while. New games are going to a thing for a while I am guessing. I have already started 3 and would start 3 more in a heartbeat and I'm currently level 101. It happens all the time. No biggy. I've lost thousands of hours before sure I will again. And again and again.

So toss out 3 weeks worth of game play and start again... Bummer, this would be my 4th restart since SS2 came out.
I'm in 101 levels of this playthrough and if I have to start a new one that I have learned is just the nature of playing Fallout with mods. Any mods.

@Et0hman have you tried the just released v1.0.9? It should fix this.

On the note of restarting... I'm currently on my 9th playthrough...

I just pulled in 1.0.9 and restarted... Got thru most of setting up Sanctuary when I had a CTD setting up defenses.
At least on this run, I could get the first Minuteman quest to TenPines and started the Sanctuary setup mini-quests. Previous runs it would be quite a while before I could get either to start. So something must be working right in the scripts.

Look for updated versions of Addons too they are updating with the changes to the base mod as thing change. Basically update eventing updatable then start checking load order.

I've lost count of my test runs.
I wouldn't want to try... ow... my poor head. Even taking off my shoes wouldn't help. 9 is the number of serious "I'm playing this for real this time" runs.

I hear you on the vendors. I recently finished Chapter 1 and really don't want to start # 10...... :cray

In the past 6 years I can't even count how many times I've had to restart due to mods killing my game. Or me overbuilding and killing my game etc. So nothing new to me it doesn't even hurt anymore. It's like meh OK I'll go run the world this way this time. And I am still all these years later finding easier eggs hidden in the world.

Did a restart, and it seems to be moving faster on the initial plot building...
Found a secret once Jake builds the plot, to activate the ASAM message is to attempt to activate it (it says you can't do that in demo mode) then the message plays, otherwise I will spend about 5 minutes on it to actually finish the plot.

This isn't a bug, when I did it it was super mutants and I ended up having to use a console command to spawn her to the family to get the final trigger

In the end, it wasn't a bug. There were two super mutants or mobs otherwise in a hut a a bit further out from the property itself on the borders that also have to be killed to clear the area. Quest text or reminders should be edited to reflect this as it really wasn't obvious
