Alien Invasion in the storyline.

I know this is utterly ludicrous and highly unlikely to happen but I think that a really neat end game enemy that tries to stop you rebuilding the commonwealth could be Zeta aliens. In the lore it's almost entirely confirmed that the aliens started the great war to get mankind from developing and becoming a threat. So maybe once you build up a very strong and advanced civilization at the end game the aliens could invade to try to stop humanity from being a threat. Because honestly the gunners just aren't that compelling of a Villain after I single handily raided gunners plaza and killed their leadership.

Maybe you'd have to build a lot of those huge cannons in the defensive plots to down Zetan spaceships or something.

It's really only the one audio log, and that log is inconclusive. Plus with the mute audio, it could be that they had meant to remove those lines, and the subtitles still being there was a mistake. By itself, I wouldn't call it compelling (heck, even that video thinks its unlikely, and agrees with my assessment of the dialogue being intended to be cut).

Regardless I still think that it would be really fun to have to fend off a really powerful enemy that you can't solo on your own with the massed power of your new civilization. Aliens or not.

I just can't think of another faction that would be a decent threat. It's not like the NCR or the Legion will get to Massachusetts 10 years after new Vegas and the Enclave are gone. You'd have to introduce an enemy from across the seas or some US based faction that you never heard of before.

Thats all well and good, but remember that in Fallout4 itself nobody else thought they stood a chance in a straight up fight with The BoS, even before Liberty Prime was rebuilt, just from however many troops and vertibirds The Prydwen carried in. Thats the scale of conflict the actual game's story works on, not everyone wants thousand-a-side battles.

Well that's were the UFO's come in. You can beat the aliens on the ground but you need very advanced defense plots and communications to take down UFO's.

The theory is that vault tec is the ones who launched the first nukes starting the war. There is also theory that Pam had something to do with it. both of these have some evidence in game and for vault tec in other games as well.

Try New Vegas DLC

Maybe Vault-Tec were the aliens? Might explain all the horrible experiments?

diziet

Try New Vegas DLC
I dont remember a single mention of aliens in New Vegas's DLCs. A lot of 50s B-Movie SCIENCE, some Mormons, and a monotone man that makes up his own names for things, but no aliens.

Thats 3, not New Vegas.

Personally I think that it would be really neat if you could actually use the institute tech that you gain after becoming the director. Build up your settlements with the most advanced technology that humans have and fight off the xenos scum. Also the institute is actually more advanced than the Zetans in certain critical areas. Zetans can only teleport from matrix to matrix while the institute can teleport ANYWHERE.

Ultimately i'd really like to advanced my Empire to a point where I can start my own space program.

I suggest we could have some alien plots, for example a merchant selling aliens as pets :grin
Some Area 51 style store that sells alien gear weapons stuff like that would be cool, maybe an interior plot as well that has a nuke world alien dude hiding in it.

A plot or two that are "alien themed" isnt a bad idea on its own! Can probably key that to unlock the plot/s based on you finding the downed alien ship or something too, for "immersion".

Yes that would be great you see the ship fly over eventually find it kill a alien then get the alien plots. Would be awesome tie in with the situation.

Problem with introducing a new faction is it can easily break a lot of vanilla quests.

For example my new mod will introduce a slavers faction creating an empire and having an easy rule (every works for us) and as soon as you put the faction ennemy with other carebear factions (minutemen, railroad, BOS, ...) you get a lot of headache :blush
