Hey,
I am posting in this Forum because from reading some threads, i know there are People on here who know what they are doing and i could use the help.
I posted in the general Section because it does not specifically involve sim settlements(though i have it installed, along with some content packs).
I should add that i am not that experienced with modding, but know my way around a pc. For example i could without a problem manually install all mods.
I´v been at it for several weeks now reading tons of guides and threads.

I have around 278 mods activated, 223 Plug-ins and 141 of them are light. I use Vortex with the " BaGS_2.0 Bake a Game Save Guide", i setup the groups and added rules for the load order and made some hard saves. The 3 Fallout.ini´s where changed twice once with bethini, then manually to suit the mods needs. I got no stutter or fps drops(but i haven´t been to downtown boston yet). I haven´t build or scraped anything in any of the settlements( i wouldn´t dare touching anything in the triangle of death).

To compose my load order i combined the 3 lists on the excel sheet from that Guide, as best as i knew how.(i have a lot of quest/companion mods and mods that were not on the lists so i tried to assign them to a group i thought was right.)
At times i could just assign them to a random vortex group, because i could not find info on which things some mods specifically where changing.
In some cases i needed to use the vortex feature "lock mod index", to get the right load order.

I used some smashed patches created by the xedit RAB_SPLITTER scripts and mator smash.
I should add i use no enb or anything that alter graphics and my main texture mod, were the one on bitraids guide. I integrated/overwrote them in the main files, like stated in his guide.
I did not clean any of the Itms, as i have made bad experiences in skyrimse with that. My save files don´t show any unattached instances.
i read all the descriptions, bugs and some pages on the forum to check for incompatibilities and problems. A missing texture or the likes don't bother me, i watch mostly out for mentioning of ctd´s.

The problem is i get random ctd´s. They are not reproducible. At a time i thought it was a insufficient memory problem, but after some tests i can exclude that.
So i guess it is either a mod load order problem or one of my many small quest mods not playing nice with another mod. Or is cvcdead wasteland not compatible with ss? I also realize i have several mods who do the same thing, but i could not find any problems on the mods pages and for items, etc i used the patches.

I am asking if anybody could maybe give me hints on any faults in the load order. Or based on your experience some advice on some of the smaller mods that could be causing problems.

Eliminating some would save me hours of work. If i have to wait roughly 2 hours to ctd or not ,to check if uninstalling a mod worked, i´ll never finish.

I have attached my load order list and would be very thankful for any help or advice.

On my phone, so sorry I can't open the txt.

Honestly I'm getting crashes as well frequently with SS2. (It's pretty buggy at the moment). Not sure if you're using SS1 or SS2.

If you haven't, I'd plop your load order into LOOT and see if that does anything to help, it's pretty good at generalizing load orders, and the tags, and load orders are kept up to date pretty decently with hundreds of peoples feedback.

I'd also look into BAKA ScrapHeap mod, which drastically increases Fallout 4's script limiter, and how much it can handle script wise, it helps generally with the random CTDs from what I've seen, and I went from a random CTD every hour to having it happen only very infrequently.

Hey,
First of all, thx that you took your time to answer me, while trying to help out. I appreciate it.

Don´t worry about the load order it changed since last time(i´ll attach the new one if anyone wants to help). since i did not receive much help i began to visit every single mod page of every mod i have installed.
I created a xls file where i will note all the Problems, ctd´s, glitches, load orders, etc ; i find important.

I´m playing with ss1, not much of a fan of alphas/betas.

When i began modding in Skyrimse i used LOOT, but my heavy load orders were always sorted wrong and i needed to make many adjustments manually.
With Fallout 4 i tried it , but had to change too much.

But i have to say, for me personally working with groups and rules in vortex, works well and i am getting used to it. I still check LOOT for ITM´s.

Ty for your suggestion of BAKAScrapHeap, it was one of the first Mods i installed, even with it i get the CTD´s.

I was getting CTDs about every 1.5 - 2hrs of gameplay and frequent glitched saves around the time Industrial Revolution was released. Using Steam, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Updated NMM and redownloaded all my mods. The game ran much better but I was still getting crashes about every 2hrs. I wrote it of as an engine limitation and rolled onward.

Flash forward to the release of SS2. After much frustation (game engine glitchyness not SS@) I had enough. I opened Windows Explorer and looked at the game files in the Steam folder. I could not find anything out of place (old loose files) in the Fallout 4, data or F4SE folders. I deleted all files in the Fallout 4 folder. All files in the data folder except Fallout 4 and DLC esm files. I deleted the ini and save files in the documents/games/fallout 4 folder. I uninstalled NMM and deleted all files left behind. I deleted all my mod files. I made sure there were no crumbs left behind. I had Steam verify the game files and waited for about 4.5GB download. I started the game with the vanilla launcher (this rebuilds the ini files.) While witing for Vortex to download, I edited my ini files. I installed Vortex and learned the joy of using it to install F4SE. The only mod Vortex didn't properly install was Load Accelerator.

Anyway, TLDR on my previous reinstallation Steam might have left some junk behind that was causing conflicts. (From back in the day when mods were loose files) Or it was NMM IDK... Playing through SS2 with a minimal load order had been a dream. I have not had a CTD yet. (knock on wood) I have made close to the end of the main quest and found out that using Extended Dialog Interface (XDI) there is a mod conflict and can not proceed. I wish I would have done this sooner instead of suffering 2 years of miserable gameplay.

Either way - Good Luck :drinks

Hey,
thanks for taking your time to reply. Luckily, the last time i played fallout 4 i did not mod anything. So the chance of me finding remnant files of old mods is equal to zero .

The Problem with vortex not installing a mod properly is one of my greatest fears, because it would take some time to reinstall everything(if i where to search for and find out which mods were not installed correctly).
Aside from looking in the folders and checking the files manually, does anybody know if there is a more practical and easy way to do this? Maybe a vortex plug-in/extension checking the installation?

But i guess if i can´t solve the problem now(even after removing everything that won´t work), my last hope would be to reinstall everything from scratch.

That´s another one of my fears. A mod might work fine for some time , but as your game grows after hours of playing and the more scripts and resources get loaded into the save, the more problems and unpredictable behaviour will happen.
But that´s exactly why i wanted to ask the more advanced modders here for help, as they have more experience with the different mods and their behaviour with other mods.

Searching through all the mods pages again and writing it down, i am surprised at how many popular mods, that are still used today by many, have heaps of problems, conflicts, etc.
AWKCR, Better Cooking Stations/CHEF, Boston FPS FIX, Beantown Interior and the opt patch, fusion city rising ,MCAM, DTF and many more have so much problems/conflicts/ctds with other mods. I haven´t finished yet, but these are my worst contenders for my CTD Problem at the moment. But these are just the high priority problems.
Even mods like vis-g, unique creatures/npcs, workshop framework, etc. have lots of reports with problems/conflicts/ctds. And i don´t mean the kind of ctds caused by the inexperience of the user .

What i wanted to say is that atm i checked more than 200 plug-ins and i think there were only 20-30, where i was nearly 100% sure i did not need to make a note in my problems list( ok half of them is because the mod is not very well known to a lot of ppl and no one uses it so there are not a lot of references/threads)
I have yet to meet a mod without any Problem with other mods.

I fear i will have to deactivate a lot of mods for my game to stop crashing. But i still hope it does not come to that, as i had some load order irregularities and some missing patches. Still a long way to go, but i am slightly hopeful, that when i am finished i have eliminated the worst Problems.

Thx btw for the mention of load accelerator and xdi(had read about that one) , i will keep a eye out.

Cheers and ty :drinks

when my game crashes randomly the first port of call is my gcard and temp setup, so its out with msi afterburner and heaven and checking that i am not peaking the gcard past the point it can handle , obviously the more mods you add to this power hungry engine the more gcard work you end up doing and the oc tests you ran before wont be the same now. always worth dropping a new test in to make sure things are good and maybe set up riva server so you can see your internals at work and monitor the hardware against the current engine setup load you have, just a thought before you move on to install and try things like "LOOT"

Yeah, i know( i worked 5 years in IT), thanks. At the moment i haven't touched my modded Fallout 4 , since last posting here. I build myself a new High-End Machine, and have more important things on my mind. Now i will have the computing power for my Mod List, but my Motivation is gone. I don' t want to squander all my precious private Time , on modding a Game which in the End i wasn't even capable of playing( modded version). Maybe one day i'll get back to it, but atm i don't have hours of private time to waste on trial and error.

Thanks to the few People who took the time to answer me, it wasn't the ppl i hoped would answer/help me, but that's life. Thanks again!!
