Question About the Executioner Perk

@JamieP123 Post something on another thread that got me thinking about the Executioner Perk

I am attempting to kill the Quincy 5. I am able to knock them down, yet I cannot kill them. I received a system alert saying that I obtained the executioner perk yet no matter how many times I shoot they will not die.

I've executed all 5 a few times before; but the last time I got the perk, I only killed Preston. I just ran out of the museum leaving the other 4 aggro'd. Later in the game, I went back to the museum. They had calmed down. Standing over Preston's looted corpse, it no longer seemed to bother them that I killed their buddy. Then, I slapped some slave collars on them.

Anyhoo, I always thought that the key to getting the perk was killing Preston. Even having done it a few times, I always thought it was killing Preston that got me the perk.

But having read @JamieP123 's post and then reconsidering what I've actually experienced in the past (strange how assumptions can cloud your memory what happens), you have to get the Executioner Perk in order to be able to kill Preston at all. The perk is the key to killing him and not the other way around. And you get the perk just by aggro'ing Preston in the Museum.

Which leads me to ask what happens if I just attack Preston in Museum, get the perk, and then runaway and leave the museum instead of executing him?

Can I wait it out and then return to find that they have forgot my past transgression, similar to what I mention above with the Quincy 5 4? Except able to finish the Museum quest if I wish?

Or will just having received the Executioner Perk make Preston and me enemies for ever and ever?

Regardless of the answer, on my most recent play I didn't get the perk when I was in the museum because I thought I had to kill Preston and I was never going to succeed at the level I was at. When I went back later and stronger, I had progressed too far along Jammer's Quests and had missed the window of opportunity. I won't make this mistake again.

You can do it as far as I know every NPC forgets about your misdeeds eventually, this has been a thing for every beth game , as far as I can remember at least, don't quote me on that
