A little advice on settlement size and population.

For Sanctuary 20, Red Rocket 17, and the Abernathy farm 15. I find if I go above this the game really hates me fast travelling back anywhere close. Not that I usually fast travel I like to run everywhere you find all kind of cool things.

Wow. you guys must have awesome rigs. I tend to limit a settlement (in SS1) to 6 or 8 with bigger areas like Sanctuary or Starlight as high as 12. My machine is pretty good but I always ran a few extra script heavy mods. When I get around to playing a SS2 game, I'm dropping every other script heavy mod and concetrating on just a settlement building game. When i do play, I'll keep in mind the "triangle" area and maybe limit them to fewer settlers as well.

Are you running this. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46340

I have shall we say a mid lv PC AMD Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5600XT 32 meg ram win 10 etc. The profile for this playthrough i 224 mods many quest mods, Horizon's thus far since using it my CTD has become almost none, but the settlers still seem to have that meeting behind the house. Not sure if it will help as I know next to nothing about modding just how to install them and how to follow Gamer Poets on YT.

I'm in the middle of some kind of "stress testing" using Vault 88 myself, since that's an interior space it seems to have less 'load' on the system that isn't the Settlement itself. Only gotten to 8 people there so far - 19 plots I think - but the rate of recruitment using the 'Beacon' that place has built in seems to have slowed down to a crawl.

fwiw about the beacon, settlement happiness is a factor in the chances to recruit a settler - it's a direct bonus chance at ~10:1 iirc (ie, 100% happiness = +10% recruit chance).

Keep in mind the Vault beacon is a completely different item. Why it recruits CHA+20 while others do CHA+10 for population.

Did it get nerfed that hard for SS2? Where did you find that info?
The vanilla code is happiness/2 no wonder recruitment has been so slow.

I'm aware, I just really like my Vault. I would be using uituit's "Forgotten Vault" but I had troubles getting that to actually build SS2 Plots when I tried it. Although that was a few patches ago, it might be working now.

Heh, I had over 80 between all three settlements. It wasn't until I started going over 40 in Sanctuary that I had problems. I had 40 in Sanctuary, close to 30 in Red rocket and close to 20 in Abernathy. It was still running fine, but then I think once I hit 42 or something in Sanctuary it started crashing. By the way, this is with a ton of plots and stuff. I built up Sanctuary huge. Lots of shops, apartments/houses and rec stuff too. Red Rocket was a huge fort and Abernathy was a relatively large farm. Kind of sad about the crashes. Sucks because I like to imagine I am building a new country lol (with military and economy, etc.)

Before 76 nobody was really wanting a multiplayer Fallout but after it co-op seems to be speculated (e.g. JuiceHead) and hoped for instead of Skyrim style "upgrade" for yet another platforms. Because we certainly shouldn't be getting Fallout 5 any time soon.

Unless you mean that 76 is a co-op. I don't consider it as Fallout 4 co-op due to its original braindead ideas like getting rid of npcs.

Conqueror functionality for SS2 should cover most of the need.
I've wanted Co-Op since New Vegas. I didn't want Multiplayer, I just wanted to be able to tool around the Wasteland with a few friends.

The vanilla code is happiness/2 no wonder recruitment has been so slow.

The vanilla code and WSFW is and has always been happiness/100, but there is an "attractNPCDailyChance" (which by default is 0.5) and is a multiplier on the happiness and added to it. With the 0.5 multiplier it effectively becomes happiness/200. Still, it only influences the bonus from happiness, the base chance is a flat 0.1 (10%) so 100 happiness brings it up to 60% (0.1 + 100/100 * 0.5 = 0.1 + 1.0 * 0.5 = 0.1 + 0.5 = 0.6 = 60%)

The actual line of code from vanilla is: WorkshopScript.psc: Line 785: float attractChance = attractNPCDailyChance + updateData.currentHappiness/100 * attractNPCHappinessMult

If there are less than iMaxBonusAttractChancePopulation (5) then an additional bonus is applied to the recruitment chance at a rate of attractNPCDailyChance per "missing" settler (eg, settlement population 2 means (5-2) * 0.1 or a +30% bonus). So the best chance that can be had is 110% with a 0 population and 100 happiness.

For complete details see the function "DailyUpdateAttractNewSettlers" in WorkshopScript.psc, or; the function "RecruitWorkshopNPCs" in WorkshopFramework\NPCManager.psc

What's your character's Charisma stat? Do you have the setting for "use bed count instead" switched on (and if so, how many empty beds are there - not plots that haven't built yet, actual Beds according to the bar on the top when in Build Mode)?

i have 15 setter and 17 beds
my Charisma is 6 +1
i use the

Such Fallout 4 mod pack

Imagine this fantasy: Co-op Fallout 4 remastered for 5th gen consoles. With SS Conqueror-like player led settlement v settlement (or faction v faction) gameplay. Wouldn't need to write any new content to the actual game, but it would still be fresh for a good hundred hours.
Now that would be something, especially as Skyrim V and ESO online have been re-mastered.Get your fingers out Bethesda!!

Set a recruitment beacon at a settlement your not using and use it as a feeder settlement to move settlers around. Just place like 10 beads 10 water 10 food then come back occasionally to get settlers when needed. Or use the cheat holotape mod you can add settlers off the holotape and call it a day.
