Old Post A few questions about the Conqueror mechanics

I just started another Fallout 4 playthrough, with Conqueror and the Conqueror Minutemen faction mod and i like the idea of conquering settlements (and defending and loosing settlements to other factions) a lot.

But reading the Conqueror "documentation" leaves me with a couple of questions. (I understand, that Conqueror is not finished, yet.)

So far i started with Red Rocket (who would have thought of that?), then Sanctuary, Abernathy, Ten Pines and then Greygarden, before i converted Red Rocket to an Outpost.

1) I do now have the option to attack my own settlements, that already grant me all of their resources, to convert them into Vassals. Does this make any sense? Is there any advantage of having a Vassal, over of having a vanilla Sim Settlement? According to the documentation (wiki) the Vassals do not even continue development. Their only advantage is, that the surplus gets automatically sent to the Outpost (which the IDEK's logistic station Sim Settlement addon building already manages for me - should i uninstall that addon? Does it feed my outpost, that otherwise would need vassals to get fed?)

1b) Is it necessary to convert Settlements to Vassals, so they will be attacked by other factions?

1c) If i conquere my own settlements with my Minutemen-Faction army, to make them Vassals, will Preston become an enemy?

1d) Can i still make the Vassals upgrade their settlement somehow, e.g. by supplying the required junk, or do they just completely stop development?

2) Is there a reason to have more than one Outpost?

2b) Can your Outpost(s) be conquered?

2b.b) Will Vassals of the conquered Outpost change owner?

3) Can your Vassals/Outposts be conquered by enemy factions while you're out doing quests, without a chance to help? E.g. just a message: Vassal X has been conquered, sorry, your 5 recruits and the little defense you had were just not enough. (Would be nice).

4) Who are the enemy factions in vanilla Conqueror? Do i need to download Conqueror faction mods to add enemy factions? (Or can i add additional enemy factions by doing so?)

4b) Do enemy factions have/create Outpost Settlements too?

4c) Are there any settlements in a new game that are already owned by a faction?

Thanks for any clarification!

I am playing with all of the Conqueror faction packs (Not minutemen because they are Liberators) and they do indeed act as enemies. I have also seen Gunners and Raiders as well as Mercenaries. act as rival gangs when attacking so I guess those are built in to the main mod.

Right now I am playing as the Triggermen faction and having a blast with only a few hiccups but nothing game breaking.

Thanks for your answer! Rivaling factions, that's very nice!
Had to google for "Liberators" and found this in the Conqueror change logs, for anyone who's interested:
  • Liberator factions are effectively “The Good Guys”. Rather than kill Civilians/Settlers and battle their guards when they take over a settlement as an outpost, they instead free them from a set of hostile NPCs.
  • After freeing a settlement, the captives will become settlers in the Outpost.
  • Liberator factions can take over your existing controlled settlements even when they have people living in them rather than having to violently take them over, use the Map on the War Planner’s Desk to do this.
  • Liberator assaults will find more enemy guards at the settlements they attack to make up for the fact that they won’t be fighting the Civilians/Settlers as well.
  • You will need to install Faction Packs to gain access to a playable Liberator faction, as Conqueror does not currently include any (though might in the future).

Hello! I'm a bit late and don't really have much of an answer but I like this thread.

Particularly;
"3) Can your Vassals/Outposts be conquered by enemy factions while you're out doing quests, without a chance to help? E.g. just a message: Vassal X has been conquered, sorry, your 5 recruits and the little defense you had were just not enough. (Would be nice)."

I wanted to see if there's going to be an AI of sorts for each faction to attack and control settlements without the player's input.
Even if I'm not playing as a commander of any faction, just living in Sanctuary(minutemen),have the Gunners attack. Chilling as the raiders and the brotherhood decide to send 5 vertibirds and some troops your way.
Have that "war of the commonwealth" feeling that Ive been wanting.

Hiccups? With the Triggermen? Or Conqueror itself?

I assume Conqueror but I've only played the Triggermen so far. A couple of times my own party shot at me while on an attack and once in awhile my attack party would start the attack before I arrived at the meet up location.

Yup, Conqueror for the latter, no idea about the former. I see my gang attack well before I ever reach Hangman - sometimes even firing off when I'm on the far side of the river. Haven't seen it at other settlements but I also haven't attacked all of them as yet. The former, I just kill the mutinous dogs and everyone else just stands around - probably thinking "So that's what happens when the Boss puts a mark for you in his black book." :)

Not yet, but that is what this whole mod is building up to. Kinggath mentioned in one of his videos that his goal for Conqueror was to have a never ending war between the Factions centering around taking, holding, losing, and retaking settlements.
Yes please.

Conqueror is in its infancy right now. The Raider faction was first, then the Faction Packs and Liberator option. Soon(tm) we will see the ability for one faction to conquer one of YOUR settlements.
