Bug 3.0.5b - Scripts Seem to No Longer Work

I was hoping that updates would resolve an issue that I had with settlement not upgrading past level 0, and so recently upgraded from 3.4.6 to 3.0.5b. After the update, Sim Settlements seems to have broken entirely, and I am having a hard time figuring out the precise reason why.

All items still exist, the planner desk and holotape are still there and contain the options in the existing file, but do not do anything when an option or selection is made from the terminal or holotape. Any options can be clicked, you can attempt to check the desk's storage/plan, etc. but no secondary menu loads or behaves properly. The plots can have their plaques checked, but show as level 0 even for level 3 plots, with 0 for all stats. The HUD also no longer displays.

Attempting to start a new game for testing, the sensor modules and computer are missing entirely from Concord - which adds to making me think that the scripts are not working here.

I tried reverting back to 3.4.6 and the scripting is still broken which puts me in a tough spot here.

If it matters or helps I am using the 3-in-1 version of the install.

If you still see all of the assets (such as the City Planner's Desk), then it's likely a mod conflict.

Can you try loading up only the latest version of SS and no other mods to see if things work on a fresh character? (You can use a Quick Start save from nexus to speed up your test).

Thanks for your response; I appreciate the help. By doing some testing I found out that some interaction between the following seems to be what causes the Building Plans and tools to not run for me:

HUDFramework
Homemaker
ArmorKeywords
SettlementMenuManager

It seems odd, but I tried slowly turning mods on after doing as you suggested and running only Sim Settlements. On a fresh game it now works without issues. For my current save file... not so much.

It gets caught in a loop of constant menu popups. Asks if I need an explanation of how it works, asks to assign a leader, says a leader gets assigned, asks if I need an explanation... it never stops once started.

Video here in case it helps get across what I mean:

I understand if that save file is just beyond hope at this point; it's just a little disappointing that things had been working fine (well... fine, except for that cities stuck at level 0 issue) until the update.

Edit:

And for context: in the video, the only active mods are

SimSettlements.esm (the 3-in-1)
SimSettlements_MegaPack_YearOne.esp
SimSettlements_CityPlanPack_ContestEntries.esp
Sim_Settlements_Mayors.esp
IndustrialCity_Sim_Settlements_Asson.esp
PCDugSIMAddon.esp
WVSimSAddon.esp

I'm betting there is a problem with the leader pack you're using. Check in the comments section of that addon to see if others are having a similar problem. If so, you might need to abandon it and use a different one.

Looking at the leader pack on the Nexus, I do not see anyone reporting a similar issue - but I will definitely keep that in mind and probably not use it even on a new save.

With the leader pack uninstalled I still receive the issue when attempting to make any companion a city leader. This is with all mods except for the SimSettlements.esm disabled. Once a leader is selected it goes into a loop of "this won't build without a leader assigned" > "companion assigned leader of settlement" > "would you like to assign a leader or build on your own", over and over with increasing frequency until the game is closed.

I understand that making changes to an active game may never work properly, and my only option here may be to just restart and hope for the best. I am just hoping to avoid that if possible.

I have the same issue !

I don't have the same mod list though.

I do have:

ArmorKeywords
SettlementMenuManager

as well as the "vanilla leaders" mod.

(edit for wrong mod list)

I'll keep an eye on this, unfortunately since I can't replicate it - it's nearly impossible for me to make any meaningful change.

If that's any help, reverting to earlier saves and an earlier version of Sim Settlements (3.5.0 and 3.4.6) didn't help either.

Two months later...

I've found two conflicting mods which, once removed, allowed me to use Sim Settlements as planned again.

The guilty parties where "No combat boundaries" and "Search and Destroy", which modify agression in NPCs.
