Will you be able to have a radius around them that they cause unhappiness or negative affects? Or does it have to affect the whole settlement

Happiness calculations are done at the settlement level once a day and are very very basic, I'm not aware of any way to make happiness impact a radius (although you probably could make something that impacted the owners of homes within a radius, but it would be a lot of work and a general happiness drop is much easier to both implement and understand for the user).
 
That would be a good happiness plot though. First stage outhouse, second lights/ outhouse with an outside shower enclosure, third building with inside stalls/ shower tub. Gives happiness, uses power/water.

Jose's Waste Treatment Plant kinda has this, it's my 2nd favorite plot from his Bad Neighbors mod because the lack of sanitation options bothers me :P
 
Mainly the happiness, but I will look at the oil one consuming oil.
 
I like them all. The only thing that bothers me is the batteries exposed to the elements/on the ground.

That has more to do with my electrical background and visions of shorted batteries and etc..

Weather detection isn't impossible (but it's tough to make compatible with weather mods apparently), he could totally have that plot have a risk of shorting out/exploding/needing repaired after rain storms :D
 
I'm probably going to swap those pipes I'm using as smokestacks for silos, since they use a lot less triangles.

The Silos also have several material swaps you can do to have the red stripe look, a rusty look, a clean white look, etc. And they taper and come in several sizes which is nice, and they have matching grate covers if you want to use them to impress flying PCs who look down into your smoke stacks :P

I use those on my new ceramics factory
 
I'm starting to wish (like the other XBox users) that we had a lot more than 2GB of space to play with for mods.
@JtBryant, please don't make the update too large. Your SandCastles and Barracks are my primary defences with SS.
 
For resource output balance how does everyone feel about:

Lvl1 Battery: +10 power

Lvl2 Solar +20 power +15 happiness
Lvl3 Solar +40 power +30 happiness

Lvl2 Wind +30 power
Lvl3 Wind +60 power

Lvl2 Methane +40 power -15 happiness -2 food -2 water
Lvl3 Methane +80 power -30 happiness -4 food -4 water

Lvl2 Oil +50 power -30 happiness
Lvl3 Oil +100power -60 happiness
 
Any way to have birds explode if they get too close to the windmill blades (generates 1 food) or catch on fire if they get too close to the solar or gooify near methane plants? Would be a fringe benefit and would probably generate a little happiness due to the lack of bird crap all over everything. I am pretty sure the birds are actors since you can shoot them. Maybe spawn your own birds that are killed in amusing ways so you have full control over the circle of life?

Wow to the happiness hits.. Oil is definitely not worse than methane. Possibly swap the two happiness progressions between oil and methane?

Otherwise, looking amazing!
 
Ya, I should probably mention in the message box, not to put them next to any building taller than 2 stories.

I think it's time to start working the new barracks.
