Closed Mama and Marcy constantly unassign

Mama Murphy and Marcy Long constantly unassign themselves from their Home plots (but not their Job plots). I have to reassign them every time I come back to Sanctuary.

I have same issue... jobs and homes. Could be a vanilla bug and nothing to do with SS.

The starting NPCs from Concord seem to have some quirks, and won't always stay assigned. A lot of people just give up and give them a vanilla bed.

If I figure out what's causing it, I'll definitely fix it - but I haven't had any leads.

These two are notoriously buggy and are known for doing whatever they want and completely ignoring whatever they're assigned to.
Best advice is to ignore them both and let them do their thing. Just throw down 2 extra beds in a 1x2 wooden enclosure with a roof and a door in sanctuary stick in 12 mutfruit out back and make sure there's a bar nearby and they do their thing more or less productively. Eventually Marcy will assign and stay assigned but Mama Murphy just likes to wander.

If Marcy gets assigned as a vendor, reassign her to agricultural. She won't actually sell you anything if she ends up a vendor and I've had bad luck assigning her to industrial.

You also might want to.... just shoot them in the head...

I seem to have better luck making mama murphy stay assigned to anything after you convince her no more chems (especially if you scrap her chair after you complete the quest). I have to second ruinedworld on shooting Marcy in the head though. I don't think Bethesda could have created a more annoying character to have at the proverbial 'home base'.

Marcy mellows back to mildly annoying once you retake Quincy and read all the terminal entries there. I think there's a hidden quest going on that makes her chill but who knows.

If she gets up in my face again about how life sucks so bad she's going to end up flying solo in the swamp down south though. I might send her waste of settler slot husband with her but he at least does his damned job

Believe me, I HAVE thought about that ... a lot ... more than I care to admit.

Marcy did more than unassign herself from her home on me; She assigned herself to a vacant Residential Plot,effectively switching homes. I quickly reassigned her back to her original home,and she's behaved herself until I managed to get the Vault-Tec Rep in from Goodneighbor to take that other plot.

I'm not sure if this should be with this thread or start a new one; but I'm having a similar problem. But not with anyone from Preston's Concord group. One settler from Sanctuary, one from StarLight and two from Abernathy farm (one of which is Lucy) won't stay assigned to their homes. Lucy won't stay assigned to her Home or Job. I tried refreshing locally (Abernathy Farm); but Lucy still unassigned from her Farm.
