Question Workshop framework breaks SS 3 in 1?!

So I played SS with the 3 in 1 using 4.1.7 last year with no problems. It was great. I play FO4VR with FO4SEVR. It was all good. I finished that playthrough, and started building a new modlist for my first ever survival run. I also wanted to try conqueror, and this is where things got frustrating.

Firstly, the FO4VR wabbajack uses SS 3in1 and conqueror versions 4.0.2, and workshop framework 1.19. No problem, installed all 3, disabled the other versions (vortex).
The problem is, workshop framework breaks SS. You either have conqueror with WF - which provides the pop up to tell you its building the settlements so you know its doing something, but SS is broken, or you uninstall WF so SS works but conqueror is broken.

When WF is installed, I can find the SS city manager 2078 holotape, but when you try and do the installation it says its complete, you press ok, nothing happens. Repeat the process and the same nothing happens. Remove WF, and after the install it works totally normally, SS shows up in the workshop bench, you can build plots etc. But then conqueror goes completely silent, and seeing as WF seems to be required in the text but not in the requirements section on nexus (a bit ambiguous), I'm assuming conqueror is broken without it.

I don't understand why WF breaks SS if they were meant to be used together. I have the unoffficial patch, WF is after that in load order, then SS and then waaaaaaay further down the list is conqueror.

And before anyone does the 'VR version is old' dance, save your breath, these versions of SS,WF and conqueror work fine in VR for 5k people, but apparently not for me. Pretend its pancake FO4 for all intents and purposes.

Still, more information re the testing process would be useful. Something might stand out and we can go "Oh yeah, you need to do ...."

Aha maybe that's the cause then. I didnt question the versions as this was something the wabbajack maker said, but perhaps they mistyped the version number.

How I've tested it is by running a new game with start me up basic, running to the mueseum of freedom, collecting the tape, running back to red rocket and seeing if A)the tape works :cool:any items appear in the workshop C) if any conqueror notifications appear.

As I said, the tape does not work with this version of WF installed, and conqueror does not work without it (as far as I can tell). I will try and get a WF release from the right time period though and see if I have any luck with that later. I'll report back either way
 
As I'd used SS 3in1 4.1.7 on a previous save, I went with that, Conqueror 4.1.7, and WF 1.1.9, and bingo, everything worked pretty flawlessly. Kinda amazed how smoothly everything else was running too. I did get a crash after about 2 hours but I did go running around trying to see if stuff was building while conqueror hadn't completely finished so I'm hoping it was just that. The plan at abernathy farm was pretty sweet though

Glad that you worked it out :) I figured that it was likely a version issue - very hard to tell for 2yo software though.

Well now I've got a new problem! Yay! Always the way with FO4.

I don't know if you can help with this, but I made a fairly decent amount of progress on my 'test' game (I'm essentially doing some early game testing to root out any serious problems from my ~170 mod build so that when I upgrade my rig around march, I should be able to just double click f4sevr and get to it), set up 4 residential plots, 2 agricultural, 1 martial, 2 hand water pumps, powered them all up properly then went running to diamond city to test the radighoul mod I'd just installed. Did that, got my ass kicked, ran back to red rocket and... crash. Load up again, cross the boundary for RR, crash. Repeated this about 3 times, managed to get in by using the road from Concord, got to my bed, slept, woke up, crashed. Loaded in from my bed, crashed.

I only just today found out about creating merge patches and bash patches using fo4edit and wyre bash respectively, so I created some of those. I assumed vortex handles all of that but apprently not all. I very much suspect SS is the cause of these crashes, but then again I hear RR is generally a crash magnet anyway.

Any ideas? If the patches don't help when I boot in later Ill have to nuke the settlement with the tape, if that doesn't work then im out of ideas. The only other relevant mod I can think of is scrap everything because I deleted some trash piles to get more wood to build foundations.

I installed it before the weekend, either during the week or last weekend. It works fine technically speaking, but I couldnt survive long enough to even buy a gun off the wall lol.

And yeah the ss plots I mentioned but otherwise a bed, generator, relay poles and that's about it

It may be a bit early to declare victory, but holy shit im not crashing anymore (so far). I did also find when making patches that I had not corrected some version headers after hitting the reinstall button on vortex. Didnt realise it reset the headers after doing that. Shouldve figured after skk stalker pop ups stopped appearing. So either the merge/bash patches have saved my life (performance is surprisingly good too), the version headers or both.

Not long after loading in, someone attacked my base, so I suspect that was the cause, especially as skk stalkers was one of the mods that reverted to 1.0 after I hit reinstall (fo4vr uses 0.95 file headers). The tape was still in my inventory but I think the scripts weren't running correctly or at all. My best guess anyway.

Hopefully everything is stable now but I've only been in 15 mins and my crash senses are always tingling
