Who the hell modified Gunners Plaza?

I used to visit this place to get some XP and nice stuff. Loved the fights around that place. And now I walk over one nuke mine after another. And when I manage to avoid one of them, the next one gets me.

Holy hell. I know that taking this place is part of a quest, but maaaaan. Even on the roof there are mines, so no chance to fly in using a vertibird and attack from above....

I had to give up after 10x dying&reloading. Zero chance
 
Well, it probably had to be done in order to make the GNN story fight a suitable challenge. All that buildup would be ruined if we can just go and do it all alone. Going there for sport or fun or whatever was something I'm used to as well but, there's always Quincy or vault 95 or DLCs.
 
The entrances are probably locked until the appropriate quest begins anyway. A GNN run was a must for me as well. The Rogue Robot radiant quests are good if you don't mind a bit of travelling. They reward on the spot and you occasionally come away with a recruitable settler.
