What's the worst you've been done in by one of your own mods?

Raider Overhaul was one of those mods everyone talks about I never got around to looking into, so finally did. Doing the "Lost Patrol" chain and at the Satellite Array I run into a raider crew mixing it up with the St00per Mutants. One of them is in power armor (turns out to be tier 4 - tier 6 parts).

Well. I imagine it's slightly less insane on it's own... but.... one of my mods greatly buffs the protective value of power armor such that the pilot doesn't take damage in any significant way until you've blasted some holes in it, or better yet blown a piece or three off. Until just now, I didn't realize how few NPC opponents really use power armor. Hoo boy.

I am now calling for evac and buggering the fark off because I am out of ammo and all my own PA pieces are orange or yellow. I blew through literally all my ammo knocking that bastard's helmet off and then introduced his forehead to my .44. On the plus side the effect works like I was hoping... but DAYum. Combined with the Raider Overhaul's.... er, overhaul.... to Raider PA's spawning at higher levels.... time to start carrying more ammo :O.

For me, it was my A.W.A.D. mod. When I first tested it I didn’t realize how accurate the assault rifle is (ahem inhuman ahem).

A supermutant with an assault rifle damn near killed my level 100+ character from long range. <_<

—edit—

I still haven’t sorted that inhuman accuracy out. Instead I hide a lot more.

SKK Combat Stalkers, NPC Travellers - Raider Overhaul, Synth Overhaul, SuperMutant Redux, and CoA - better locational damage.

Outside of Museum to clear Concord - Gristle in Power Armor, Synths show up (see latest Kinggath Let's play video) - Hostile Stalkers and Patrol looking for me... sigh, SuperMutant Super legendary Skirmishers and Nightskins (who can stealth)...

WTF - talk about a time of needing to pop smoke and call a hot evac.

... I died... several times... well, maybe more than several... and yes, I ended up hiding and shooting ... and running... and hiding... sigh... I cheated.... cheat terminal, fatman and ammo.

I made it rain.

Every dam day I get one pumped across the map because of Modern Firearms and Pack Attack, but I wouldn't have it any other way, I love it.

If anyone is interested in spawn mods, Pack Attack is hands down the best one I've used. It doesn't have the shear carnage of WOTC, but it's also a lot more stable. It changes AI combat behaviour a lot making NPC's much smarter and gives them better aim. No more waves of them running straight at you, they use cover a lot more and will try flank you all the time.

I was reading about the Pack Attack - sounds interesting... do you use any other / or have tried other spawn mods with Pack Attack - any conflicts, or what doesn't work for you in LO? Is there a suggested load order?

I like these because otherwise the wasteland is quite empty... and I saw the quote about Horizon and Pack attack... lol... woo hooo.... weekend entertainment here!

I used Combat Stalkers before this, even using the both together for a few hours and honestly PA is much better then SKK's mod. It has a stalker function built into it call raiding parties. It has an MCM tab too so everything is adjustable.
It is a bit script heavy, so I don't know how well it will work with Horizon + SS.
As for LO....... Honestly man, I don't give a shit about LO, I let vortex handle most of it and I'll add a couple of rules where needed.

I can't play without spawn mods, game is far too easy/boring without them.

Well, I have found Horizon scripts + SS scripts + etc... is way too heavy for the engine. If I play Horizon now, I use mostly vanilla items. And it really isn't so much the SS items, it is if I decide to use ROTC... which really puts it over the top.

What did you not like about Combat Stalkers with Pack? Did they collide or provide too much fighting?

It was unnecessary, PA can do everything CS does. Also the way PA spawns in hostiles feels way more natural, it doesn't dump them all in at once it clones over a short period of time. I had CS spawn a whole group right in front of me more than once, which is a bit shite tbh.

The change in AI combat behaviour is so good that CS is just no longer required, at one point I was like "holy shit I'm getting wrecked here" but there's no huge group of NPC's in front of me as I was used to. You get flanked by NPC's who have improved aim and are multiplying over time. It has changed the way I fight, you have to use cover. You can't stand still and pick them off one by one you have to keep moving or you'll get shot in the side/back.

And as I said PA very configurable through MCM, which is just a big plus over CS.

Speaking of dumping them at once... Museum... get in PA... grab minigun... and swarmed from behind. Shooting them through the helicopter... large group (probably killed 10 of them ... glowing ones (3 of them!) … came through... I bailed off the edge! haha... catch me suckers!

Good times... :)

True Storms raging ghoul spawns, all the time.

Just cleared the fight to get Ada and got to about where the power armor was behind Watts and must have been like 20 ghouls, lol.
