Welcome Gamepassers!

If you're new to Sim Settlements, I wanted to post a quick little article to get you started, as it can be overwhelming given how much content the community has created over the years.

SS1 or SS2?

You'll find there are TONS of mods with Sim Settlements in the name on Bethesda.net, some are for Sim Settlements, and some are for the sequel. Play the sequel.

While there is a lot of great content for SS1, most of us developers have moved on to SS2, so you'll get better support and since you never played the first, you won't notice the handful of features that haven't been ported, but overall SS2 has far, far more content available in both quests and mechanics.

Won't be long before it also surpasses SS1 in available content period - as most of the old stuff is actively being ported forward.

How Do I Start With SS2?

Install the mod, start a new character for the best experience, and go build a recruitment beacon somewhere. A character will show up, and the mod will teach you a lot of itself as you go with story, quests, in-game information screens, and more.

Questions?

If you're running into confusing mechanics or think you might have a bug, here are two resources:

1. The Wiki - we have a great team actively filling this out right now, and it has a lot of great info!

2. The Help Section - here you can post your issues or questions, someone will usually get back to you pretty quick. Just be sure to keep checking back in if you have issues, because often we have to go back and forth with you finding out about your other mods and what you've done in your save in order to help.
