Having been challenged to make an expansive player home this month by @Karvoc, I'll be setting up shop at The Slog! The intention is to turn the site into a "safe" swimming spot with lots of other fitness and wellness focused activities. Early concept has the pool likely being glassed in, and experimenting with Pra's radiation cleaner plot and various environmental markers in the WRK to make swimming there a non-irradiating activity as the city levels up. Likely a minimal settler population, just enough to keep the lights on and the pool clean.

Complimentary RadAway with admission!

You get the keenness award this month!

After some initial experimentation, it looks like I can't alter the water level in the pool like I was hoping (I can change the depth at which the player is immersed, but I cannot move the visual top layer, so there is a disconnect between where you see the water and where you enter the water). As a result, this is going to be rebranded as "Slog Tarberries & Fitness".

As Wiseman says when you meet him: "I want this to be a place with warm smiles, good food, and great prices!"

As such, the pool will remain its tarberry bog, and the baked-in idle markers mean part of the farm area will remain under cultivation. Otherwise, the renovation into fitness center and player home is well underway, with L0 and L1 complete so far!

Managed to blitz through and got L0-L2 completed, but ran out of time to finish L3 and publish before I have to step away for a couple weeks on vacation. In the meantime, here's the probably-final L2 stage of the plan!20210802083149_1.jpg20210802083102_1.jpg20210802083215_1.jpg20210802083245_1.jpg

Back from my camping trip, and back at the city plan! Level 3 is coming along well, with the player home area coming along nicely. A detailed interior with lots of display areas will be complemented by ample natural light from the glass ceiling, and the air freshened by the plants in the rooftop greenhouse. Final fitness plots have been added, as well as a number of supporting facilities to keep residents happy, healthy, and safe from further radiation degradation. More and better pictures to come as work proceeds.

This entry was designed using Communications plots from L0 onwards to satisfy the recruitment requirement in the City Plan Contest Assistant, and based on the understanding that Communication plots acted as recruitment beacons (which was also stated in the Wiki entry for these plots). It has now been clarified that this is not an accepted substitute after the contest closing date, so this plan is no longer compliant as-submitted with the contest rules. Accordingly, it must be withdrawn from consideration.

Really? I tried to summarize the situation in a short and professional manner, and this is the response? Reported.

If you would like to add a beacon, we can continue to consider this eligible. We understand it was an honest mistake as the plot does offer recruitment beacon functionality.

The reason we don't count that plot is because for players who are going completely hands off with their city plan, unless they get lucky with the assignment order and that's one of the first plots built, the settlement will stall out without a recruitment beacon.

In this case, hands-off works - the Slog has enough pre-existing NPC's that are assignable that they fill all the available job plots at L0, including communications.

I appreciate the opportunity to bring the entry into compliance, and will work to have that done as soon as possible.

The entry has been updated, with version 1.1 (only change being the recruitment beacon being added) uploaded to Nexus where it should be visible to users shortly.
