Vault 88

Hey fellow vault dwellers,

this is my first time playing SS2 and I'm currently standing in the ruins of Vault 88 scratching my head what to do with the place. I have two simple questions for you experienced mod users:

1) How does one effectively make use of the vault power- and water plants? How can it be embedded them into SS2 so that the ressources can be used throughout the whole vault?

2) Is it feasable from a performance viewpoint to build an actual vault? I mean build out the whole thing creating a lot of rooms maybe even a great atrium? Can the game handle that? My rig is not the newest but surely capable of handling modded Fallout and as far as I know the issue is rather the game itself than hardware when it comes to big builds. Therefore I'd like to know beforehand so that I don't waste hours in building something that leads to the game being a slideshow or being unstable.

Otherwise I'd probably just leave a lot of those unmovable objects and build a rugged town in the middle and be done with it. Your thoughts are appreciated!

P.S: Unfortunately nexusmods is down atm but I'd appreciate any mod suggestions concerning the questions I posed. Thanks!
 
I think both are possible but take a lot of work. If you want to use an already existing option, there are some pretty good city plans for Vault 88. With Nexus I can't give links but I've used Reina's Vault 88 plan and Choochoo's Metro 88 plan and both worked quite well. Both pretty much make Vault 88 good contributors in terms of some industrial, food, and caps.
 
Beware Vault 88... You'll have literally over 100 people just standing in the entrance in no time. no one does their job and people just never stop coming even after you turn off the beacon.

For the power, there is a reactor in the room with the Beacon switch, that is what is producing the 150 power. You can also build a reactor and connect it to the vault. From Steam:
In the "Connections and doohickeys" section under power, go all the way to the end and you'll find this little white box that goes on any vault walls you put down. It's actually very helpful.
I built my own vault, which was a lot of work but also fun. I used many of the white boxes.
For water the easiest way is to build a generator by the water pump and power it from there.

Never seen this happen. I have found a few ready-to-build vaults on Nexus that would do the trick.

prefered to build my own vault in 88 but that is mostly because u want to not have the high atrium walls used in a build here so i created a 5 floor high block of rooms where the groundfloor and 1st floor are atrium with rooms for merchandise plots municipal slots mostly for the caravan and sanitation use then a few defence plots and the rest is just rooms and recreation except for the 5th floor wich i use for 3 or 4 agri plots a whole lot of industrial plots and the vault generator to power all those .
The water unit i power with a loose generator untill i have layed the conduits from the main room to the pump room .
My bigges tproblem is defense u need to place lots of turrets to kill raiding units before they come close to the main hab room but i managed that eventualy!
 
You can have enemies just spawn at the front door with a simple mod I found. It is easy to kill with the laser turrets I found in another one.

any chance of linking that enemy spawn mod and does that one only work for v88 or also for the other settelements would help a lot if u dont have to turn county or even spectacle into a fortress with turrets even inside to kill SM that spawn way outside turret range :cool:
