I get that we have random popup Defend X settlement quests but .. is it supposed to be this much?? So often, and when I do get there .. there are TONS of Gunners! I can't even count how many! They had wiped out Greygarden before I even got there... Mr. Handy's everywhere. Took me forever to kill them all! I don't mind defending, but that is just not fun .. I like challenge but Every. One. is like that. Kinda kills the game a bit .. I don't remember having this many with just plain vanilla? The pic attached is after I killed as many as I could, then had to run up the hill to get em to group again... oye.. 1661968023731.png

Several people have reported it spawning LOTS of them, although it's never been more than about 10-15 for me. Not sure what the go there is, unless it's some kind of "leveled" thing - what level is your character?

Currently 50? I think? That could be related. I had them invade Sanctuary at half that level and it was tons as well. I'm loving the mod overall but phew ... this is kind of a buzz kill a bit lol

And are you running any mods that alter The Gunners?
I do run one myself, the one I'm linking below and its "leveled list integration" additional mod, and I swear I've never seen more than maybe 20 of them spawn in an SS2 attack.

Note though that this mod-combo makes them SCARY to fight, especially at higher levels; among other things, it gives them "Armored Dragoons" that spawn in full X01 Power Armor and carry Gatling Lasers.

It's pretty hardcore, yeah. I've been playing on Hard from the start and there were hordes of gunners. Strong ones too. Honestly harder than any fight in SS2 "gunner standoff" quests. Probably way harder than Quincy and stuff if you ignore the nuke guy and assaultrons. Not that I mind, I'm having fun. But it's kinda weird, like 30 people show up to raid 4 farmers. I posted a pic at "today I learned" recently showing how that went.
(level around 50 now, was 20-30 when they started, that was mostly a death sentence)

Nope, none that do anything like that. All my mods are mostly building and deco stuff.. like more immersive sims haha.. So this is the first mod I've ever used that adds things like this!

I'm playing on Normal difficulty, and am level 54. Finally got around to counting Gunners for you!
My most recent "defend [settlement] from attack!" quest had me up against 14 gunners. No power armor, but lots of leveled armor and weapons. I haven't seen 20 of them yet, but it's always been more than 5.

I don't fast-travel to a settlement without power-armor, Psychojet, Bufftats, stimpaks, and some high-damage weapons. These gunners are tough.

Fun trick! if the settlement isn't inhabited, the gunners will stack up in the middle. It's a great time to try out a fully-perked melee attack in VATS using the World Series bat from Jamaica Plains. The batch of Gunners who tried to take Red Rocket? I got them all to enlist in "airborne."

Half the time, since there are So Many pop up Defend quests, I don't even remember which ones are under attack. lol But YES to the empty ones!! I threw a nuke grenade into one .... I might have laughed out loud a little too psychoticly. When my hubs asked what was so funny (as he gamed on the other side me lol).. I told him. And he said that's just one reason he loves me so much lol :nerd:

A fair few people have mentioned getting "lots" of "defend the settlement" missions, which I've never seen myself - the SS2 ones only come up one at a time for me, approximately every 24 hours of ingame time. Something funky must be going on there... although I do run something that disables the 'vanilla' settlement attacks too, which are technically different things.

Had to look up the spelling of "psychotically."
Psychotic + ally.
FITTING.

In my experience, I'm pretty sure it was every 24hrs but they stack up fast. When you don't immediately get rid of them and fast travel time from 1 edge of the map to the other can take about a day.

kill them and pocket all the free loot they just gave you.

I started building cheap, ugly lockers at the edge of each settlement so I could stow all that sweet gunner gear and come back to it later for deconstruction, sale, or distribution to my settlers.

And then I forgot how full the lockers were, and I guess I'll just let that stuff dry out for another few in-game months. It was kinda sticky.

This event pop b4 u took over the gnn.
I found it really hard initially, but it's good as this is the only combat can kill me, playing on hard. And the loots are decent, especially I can scrap adhesive and ballistic fiber.
Bump my dps perks, use gauss rifle, wear the best armour with best mods I can put on, use breezing healing drink.

The highlight of these 'attacks' for me is if you go to the settlement in question after some amount of time, all the Gunners will be bunched up in a formation I can only describe as "place Plasma Grenade here". A little annoying at some settlements though, given where other non-hostile NPCs like to spawn/path...

But yeah, the piles of loot are definitely welcome. Pretty easy to get all your settlers geared up with decent guns/armor after a few of these raids.

I started doing this, then eventually just decided to use recycleactor on the locker to just delete it all because it wasn't gonna be worth it. lol

i'll join in the party having 50+ gunners attacking my settlement. playing on easy and i am Level 80. most commonwealth settlements claimed (except bunker hill and warwick homestead) and have a city plan active.

me being tired fighting them all over and over again, i just enter settlement and type in kah in the console (pc player).
when i'm unlucky my game starts stuttering and i need to alt-tab out of the game, go back to trigger the main menu. save and exit the game and re-enter.

i'd be happy with just 15 :)

Enough people have claimed the attacks are coming too fast and spawning too many dudes that I am going to go through that sequence again and see if it is still working as intended.
(a fair amount of said complaints seem to be over exaggerating due to thinking ANY attacks are too many)
