Tracking and Scanning after using the Tools/cheats

I was really enjoying my Fallout with Sim Settlements 2 and had gotten to the point where it was less grindy and more fun (I had finished the questline with Jake) but my sound was giving me headaches with it's cracking and stuff, so I wiped everything clean and reinstalled windows. My sound had been totally screwing up ever since I since Cyberpunk 2077. Anyway, I didn't want to do the slow grind to get back to where I left off, and was excited about Kinggath's latest video where he shows you can use the cheat menu to skip the quests and get back to just building. Awesome, right....

But I got an issue that may or may not even be related to cheating my way ahead. For some reason, the use of the "R" key is no longer an option. In my previous game, I had the option to use "R" on a settler to track all their items, like bed, and what plot they worked....or I had the option to use R on a bed to track who owned it. That's gone this game. Also, IF I was holding the Vit-o-Matic, there was an option to press R and scan a settler, so I didn't have to actually aim it and fire it like a weapon. That's gone too. All my "R" functionality is gone, lol. I can still scan a settler with the Vit o Matic if I use it like a gun, and I can track the owner of a plot from the option on the ASAM, but I miss my R's. They were so convenient

Do you think this is a Sim Settlements issue, or is my game just so borked I should start over? I've only made 3 settlements and it's bugging me so much I'd rather start over than miss out on that functionality.

Do you have the mod/s up to date? SS2 -and- Workshop Framework are the big ones.

Yes I do. I'm not even sure if this is Sim Settlements 2 related, it's just a hunch that using the cheats might have been the culprit. I didn't notice if I had the regular tracking functionality before using the cheat, and I certainly didn't have the scan function before using the cheat because I didn't have the Vit-O-Matic until I cheated. It could be an issue with some of my other mods. But thought I'd ask as I'm sure someone has to have used the cheat by now besides me, so wanted to see if they had any issues after using the cheat.

I think I'll load an old save and see if I had the regular tracking, like for beds and such. I think that comes from Workshop Plus....or is it Workshop Framework? I got so many Workshop mods, that it's hard to remember which one does what. I got Workshop Framework, Workshop Plus, and Faster Workshop.

It's probably not even a Sim Settlements 2 issue, I was just grasping at straws and hoping it was an issue with the cheat, as using the cheat is the most obvious thing that I've done differently from my last game.

Nobody else has mentioned that happening yet, so yeah, mod conflict is my first thought too. No idea what, though - could be anything that touches settlements, npcs, dialog...

Although that said, seems a lot of people have still not even noticed you CAN do that "quick scan" thing...

Seriously? I loved being about to put the Vit-O-Matic out of sight by "holstering it" and just using R to scan. It also seemed like a quicker way to scan someone. I gotta get all this working again, I was really enjoying my Sim Settlements 2 before my sound issues drove me to reinstall windows. But thanks for the info, if no one has had issues using the cheat, it's got to be a mod conflict. It worked perfectly my last game. I was hoping it was the cheat, because if it was, you guys would have come up with a fix by now. LOL

Hm, it's definitely still letting me use the "quick scan" on my own test-save, but this one didn't use that new Cheat function; I'll start a fresh test-game in the next few hours to double check in that situation.

I hate to double-post, but, just used the new "quest skip cheat" in the holotape function on a fresh save to get past the point you'd get the VitOMatic, and the "R: Scan" still comes up as expected. Really not sure why it wouldn't be for you.

Possibly a mod conflict, another mod that adds/modifies the alt activation for settlers?

Probably worth a try to see what happens if you disable the Alternate Activation Options, Settler Activation & Workshop Item Activation in Mod Configuration Menu entry for it as seen here.

If still no, I would guess there might be another mod that adds alternate activation options on settlers.
