Thoughts on Chapter 2

So, as I'm about to enter what I think is the final quest for Chapter 2 (End of the Beginning), I just thought I'd share some of my experiences

!) I decided to start a new playthrough, No main vanilla quests or sidequests from the SS2 mod. With chapter 1 and chapter 2, it adds about 15 hours of gameplay (that's with fast travelling between places you already know of).

2) I've had a few CTD's (currently trying to defend Sanctuary from a Gunner attack, keeps crashing to desktop).

3) Dialogue seems to be out of sync with character sometimes. Not a major issue

4) The first Gunner attack on one of my settlements (Red Rocket) also happened to trigger at the same time as with quest where a courier shows up. I liberated the settlement, however, it would not let me proceed to going to see Jake. Reloaded, did the other quest first (the one where the courier has a letter for you), THEN liberated the settlement. I believe the two quests are interfering with each other, and need to be timed so that one or the other triggers, not both at the same time.

5) Whoever came up with Carnal is a genius...

6) It's nice to see Concorde come alive, rather than just being dead.

7) Probably lots I've missed out on, due to the fact I decided to speed-run through Ch1/Ch2. Next playthrough. (

As a whole, I've always loved the SS mod. I played a ton of the SS1 mod using city plans as I hate building settlements (why should I have to build the settlement? I'm not living there, the settlers should decide what they need, not me). Slow save times I can deal with (I've since found that if you save inside a building, the time it takes to save is a few seconds), but the CTD's when attempting to defend Sanctuary are annoying. I also have to defend Abernathy, which does not crash.

You could look into generating a crash log and analyzing it to see if there's a solution for your Sanctuary crashes. That area is so notorious that it could be many different things, but you never know.

I seem to have fixed it by increasing the build limits on Abernahty, RR and Sanctuary. Bethesda didn't expect a settlement mod as grand as SS1/SS2 when they created FO4.
