NPC is stuck, not talking, quest not progressing:
  • Verify load order is correct
  • Verify latest version of SS2 and Workshop Framework (WSFW) (and game version)
  • Verify save game is clean (never had SS1/Conqueror installed on it)
  • Verify you're not running a known mod conflict

Possible Script Lag
If none of the above apply then just be patient and wait in your settlement doing nothing (don't use pipboy or workshop menu) for 10-15 minutes for scripts to finish processing. Staring at ground will also help. Seriously. If you're running on lower end hardware (especially CPU) OR have a lot of script/quest heavy mods such as other big quest mods, some companion mods, major game overhaul mods then you may end up with a lot of script lag. You can either reduce your mod load and start a new save game or just plan on spending more time in your settlements. Don't "bounce dive" and spend less than 5 minutes in a settlement.

Console Commands to skip quest stages
NO. Don't do it unless it comes directly from Kinggath or a support team member like myself. In the majority of cases you will break the mod using console commands to skip quests or quest stages because this mod was not designed for that. You can skip ALL the quests with an option in the holotape under Tools > Cheats.

@Cessori, thank you for your reply. Having looked through the referred posts, I have found that my load order does not match the one recommended. I use Vortex to manage my Fallout 4 mods, so my question is how do I change the load order? What tool(s) are needed to be able to do that, as I have never had to change a load order before.

A bit late but these might help?

If you really get into Vortex and take it to its limits then:

I have moved over to MO2 as I just use too many mods to continue using Vortex. Still, the above 2 videos should help?

There are some WSFW and SS2 logs in Documents/My Games/Fallout4/Logs/Script/user Be advised not all things in the Papyrus.log files are actually errors. For giggles, start a new vanilla only game, play until you get to Sanctuary, quit and look at the log. It's quite lengthy... and all vanilla.

I took a look at the folder you specified, but there was no user sub folder on my machine. That suggests to me that there is a flag that hasn't been set on my machine to produce those logs. Is there a flag or ini setting to get these to be made?

@RayBo, Thank you very much for that info. Now I will be a little better armed in my trouble shooting efforts.

Also, thank you to everyone else who replied to my questions. I appreciated everything you have done to assist me.

just tried again after updating to 2.0.0m and going back to before playing the finishing hell hounds camp holotape but the quest to head towards the HQ is still not spawning for me.. :(

hey quick question im running into constant save corruption issues and game crash since i downloaded chapter two and also ive taken a look at the f4se crash logs and its completely Filled with this here Line from top to bottom sometimes slightly diffrent but mainly the same
"[02/08/2022 - 06:44:52AM] error: Property MajorTrait on script simsettlementsv2:weapons:leadercard attached to (FE002029) cannot be initialized because the value is the incorrect type"
or this one
"[02/08/2022 - 06:44:52AM] error: Property Requirements on script simsettlementsv2:weapons:leadercard attached to (FE002035) cannot be bound because <nullptr form> (FE002036)"
next thing is when i sift through the crash log i see several
"Unable to bind script SimSettlementsV2:TheActs:SS2C2_WyattTheWanderer to SS2C2_TheActs_WyattTheWanderer_SAG (0E002BED) because their base types do not match"
for several ( approx 6-7 diffrent) actors and the script ends with
[02/08/2022 - 06:44:52AM] Errors occurred while loading the Papyrus save game data

is this an error with chapter two or is this caused by any other mod i might have since i normally check if anything does conflict

Why does my Xbox crash when I use the mod it would have bad lag and the just freeze me in place and just crash please tell me how to fix this problem!

For some reason commercial plots are specifically not building? When I go to select start construction, nothing happens. If I refresh the plot, the building appears 'built' but is not operating and technically not built. This is happening to all commercial plots in sanctuary.

Sorry for the bothering , but I installed the Chapter 2 and it immediately crash during loading screen when I was trying to load an old savegame , and when I tried to started a new one , it loading for infinity . I'm sure I have the newest version of SS2 and Workshop-Frame , and load them as the suggested load order [ HUD-FRAME , WORKSHOP-FRAME , SS2 ,SS2C2 ] I also installed some add-on pack of SS2 , but I guess the main problen is in Chapter2 , because the CTD only happened when I installed it and trying to load game . Anyway I can slove it ?

Hello there. I have the problem that Aiden does not talk to me after I place the third beacon (Picking Up the pieces). So I can't complete the quest. I have already adjusted the loading order accordingly, no improvement. I have read that see through scopes might have something to do with it, would just hate to give up this mod. Can anyone help me further?

Hey, new to these boards! Hoping someone can help me, though I noticed most people here are PC users and mine is on Xbox One X but here goes!

So my issue is that ever since installing SS2 I've run into audio/dialogue problems, specifically lag and a weird glitch where I don't hear any background noises (weather, machinery, talking etc) EXCEPT for when I enter the menu or pipboy, where it then all happens at once and is the only time I can hear weather effects for example.

I followed the load order on the wiki, and don't have any quest heavy additional mods installed, here's the current loadout in order:

Unofficial FO4 Patch
WSFW
SS2
HUDFramework
SS2 Junk Town 2
SS2 Junk Town Extreme 2
SS2 Ad Victoriam Settler
All Settlements Extended
Enhanced Blood Textures
Everyone's Best Friend
Modern Firearms

So anyone have any ideas what's wrong and/or ideas to fix the issue(s)?

If I could suggest adding a note for "If I had a hammer". If you have made any beds during the initial missions with the Concord settlers, then you need to store or scrap them - otherwise this quest may never progress even if all required residential plots have been built.

Given FO4 explicitly tells players to make beds at this point in the game & rewards them with XP for doing so, this could be a bit of a trap for players new to the mod.

I enjoy how SS2 makes sense of plot types and plot upgrades by tying them to quests. But for some reason, on my new playthrough, all plots are already unlocked even though Jake and SS haven't done the quest to unlock the second set of plot types. I want to fix this early on, even if it means restarting. Hopefully a basic question, but I haven't been able to figure out the answer. Any suggestions?

They are unlocked if you use city plans - city plans bypass some of the locking mechanisms. If they are unlocked and you didn't do city plans, it sounds like either the tool to unlock the plot types was triggered in the city manager holotape (under Tools -> cheats) or it is a bug but I have not heard of that happening on its own without player action.

Could it be connected to the options wizard when first operating the mod? I thought I clicked the middle choice, but could choosing the easiest level do this?

I decided to restart, and the problem of all plot types and levels being immediately available has not recurred. I still don't know what caused it, but it seems solved for now.
