Hell, since I'm already doing the "try to roleplay as a survivalist/hunter" thing... just spotted this in Nexus Trending. Gonna give it a go, has compatibility for Mutant Menagerie too which is nice.

IHO - Immersive Hunting Overhaul

Very lightweight but effective hunting mechanic. Get ingredients from creatures in a more immersive way. Disassemble to parts various mechanical targets. Learn new cooking recipes and even more.

Was unsure if it's out for PC but here it is. Gotta say it was not blatantly obvious what exactly to do to get the non-vanilla option, for me at least, but it works. I also liked the "peace between the 4 factions mod", though that one just skips over all quests and gives you a lot of unearned xp. But it inspired me to view the main quest differently, so that's nice. It was too much of a happy ending though, even in FNV you had to massacre at least one group.

A mod that, not only lets Glory stay alive following the final battle, but a companion, too? Praise Atom!
