Suggestion Show Power Radiation

I'd like to see a toggle in WS+ that when activated allowed us to see the distance that power objects radiated power. Perhaps as a faint bubble aura or similar? This would be useful both to identify issues where an object may be in a dead zone between two objects, as well as to allow the builder to specifically make areas where the power was switch-controlled by knowing how far away other objects needed to be placed to prevent "leakage" into the switch-operated area.

As an example, I'm looking to make a player home where all the lights are switch-controlled, but I have SS2 plots nearby. Being able to see the distance that power is radiated would allow for those plots to be moved to just far enough away that their power poles don't interfere, eliminating guesswork and time-consuming trial and error.

If someone is into programming their electrical system then they will have to use the normal wired versions. Yes it’s possible to mix and match the two - the originals still function normally.

Nope, I duplicated the originals and tweaked them.

For SS1 the Tesla plot idea was to cover the whole settlement. SS2 uses a different mechanic now, with Municipal Power and the special Municipal Power Pole etc.
Wouldn't it be nice if the main power source in a canned settlement were marked so you could identify it easily.

I did find something where either there was no room or just to enhance your creation experience.

I am sure you probably already know of this mod but I tried it and it works. It could be possibly expanded on like a wall mount power radiator.

Oh come on! What's a few more sleepless nights trying to figure it out??? ;)

On a more serious note. I think it would be possible. I spent some time looking at the scripts that handle the new municipal power. (to figure out the "power switch no longer works" bug) I could point you in the right direction.

Although, now that I think about it, your tests with dynamic radiant power didn't have much success, so maybe it isn't possible...
Yeah, some things better to steer clear of.

I used to use it myself, along with PCPO.

In the end I found myself almost never using either of those mods. Probably because I mod more than play. (Start playing…something bugs me…mod it.)

These days if I want power through a wall, I put two connectors beside each other and link them - then move one to the other side of the wall. It saves messing around with different-length visual snapping pieces.

Technically there doesn’t even have to be a visually changed piece, and multiple distances of snap-points can be placed upon a replacement nif. It does require altering several base-game records to get the snaps transmitting power, though.

The connected connectors, cool but I have no idea how to do that. I would guess you can do not only horizonal but vertical as well to run a power connection through the floor or ceiling.

All the other mods are quite impressive but are they all compatible with Sim Settlements 2 ?

I messed around with it a bit yesterday, got it 90% done in my wireless items mod.

I see that there are a few more items to make wireless copies of as well. I'll be testing for a while.

No use for city plans of course - and not a legit mod for city plan stuff.

--edit--

I doubt that they'll work with Transfer Settlements or WSFW Layouts either. Not that I've tested any of these things.

adds new tests to copious pile of stuff to do

Now to figure out a viable way to work this concept with greenhouse walls or roofs. Greenhouse walls are temperamental when it comes to wiring or lights and roofs are exempt from wiring it appears.

Just a strange thought occurred to me, an actual on off switch for a room or perhaps the lights come on when you enter a room and go off when you exit. Energy saving has been burned into my brain as when I was younger I was told to turn off that light when you exit a room. I still do that to this day.

It can be done in two ways.

One is pure Creation Kit work - can be seen in one of the CC player homes, if the player chooses certain things. (Neon Flats.)

The other requires polling an area every couple of seconds and would I imagine be fairly script-heavy.
