Question Settler needs and settlement defense

I'm using the Sim Settlements 3 in 1 and I'm letting the mod do the auto build with the designer choice selected.
I don't mind arming my settlers and defending them I just don't wanna build anything. So far its been amazing if not a little overkill.

My issue is the settlement will get built and the build limit reached and I might have 15 settlers and 14 beds. Of course I can't just build a bed then.
Or, they have a lot of food and water to the point that defense is lacking.

Is there a setting in the options/tools to prioritize beds and defense etc that I've overlooked? Should I just snipe a (suspected synth) to lower my settler count and shut off the settlement beacon? Does shutting off the beacon stop new settlers from being recruited? I'm not sure.
Similar to the above is there a setting to prioritize defense over building neat stuff that serves as eye candy? Again once the build limit is reached I can't add turrets.
Also I'd like to avoid bumping the build limit up further. I already get the COD sometimes around the triangle.
Thanks for your help.

There is no AI that makes decisions. If you want a plan to prioritize one plot over another, you would have to assign settlers manually to that plot first.

And if you want to keep building limits low then using city plans will always be an issue. Very few plans stay under the limit, most plan maker go above by quite a lot. I personally micro manage my settlements (I mean I place the plots and decide myself what I will get) and don't build anything but plots for that reason.
