Settings You Disable...To Overcome Current Issues

Just wondering what settings people are disabling these days to get a consistent playthrough. I've seen people mention auto-assignment, take from workbench, maintenance costs for vanilla turrets, and plot auto-updates. But I'm wondering if there are any others out there that are less known.

Personally I turn off Holiday Decorations and the "HOLO HUD" too. I leave "maintenance costs" and "take from workbench" ON though, but I do play with 'resource difficulty' dialed right down to only "Scrap" (the values in the resources HUD can't be visibly wrong if there's only one value to display!) and regularly dump stuff into the Virtual Storage myself.
Oh! And the "Info Box" gets turned off too, that little tooltip thing that comes up when you hover over a person/plot/other object. That thing was so laggy/inconsistent about appearing/disappearing for me that I quickly determined it was useless.

I have this turned off as well. I have it setup with a hotkey.

The HOLO icons are kinda glitchy. The preset 'workshop' mode works OK. If you set them to always off and manually turn them on with the toggler, they turn themselves off as they 'update' The opposite is also true... always on, toggle off and eventually they turn back on........ :scratchhead I have been manually turning them on/off as needed. There seems to be less script lag with them off.

I have auto pay plot construction costs off. This allows you a chance to build a plot and choose the building plan before it starts building something random.

I have auto pay plot upgrades off. I had one game where I had 15 plots trying to upgrade at once and caused a CTD. I can't remember if this was fixed in a patch.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head...

Turn off ALL notifications, turn off Auto Assign in WSFW, the one in SS works for me so far. I have Auto-pay on I let the settlements upgrade themselves. Even though it seems I am having to do most upgrades manually anyway. The number 1 thing that has helped me is to turn off ALL notifications!!

I've just started a new playthrough. Currently I'm thinking about the following:

1. Auto-Assign Off for both WSFW and SS2

- My reasoning is I'd like to try some of the smaller multi-settler res plots to see if it helps keep my build limit under control. With auto-assign there seems to be quite a few reports where auto-assign will have a settler take up multiple beds (and sometimes multiple jobs)

2. Auto Plot Upgrades Off

- for the reason that @msalaba mentioned earlier in the thread about having an entire settlement try to upgrade multiple plots simultaneously

3. Maintenance Costs for turrets / generators Off

- Again, there seems to be a few posts about either the maintenance costs work perfectly, or the maintenance costs don't work at all (either too much taken out of the workbench or nothing at all)

4. Take from Workbench Off (?)

- Related to scrap difficulty level, this one I'm up in the air about, it seems that depending on the scrap level you play at either your workbench items get ransacked in alphabetical order, or they maybe don't.. I've been playing on scrap categories for the most part, but I'm thinking about running scrap components on my new playthrough just to see if I like that level of involvement. I am concerned however with the lack of reporting features that have yet been released for SS2, and the commonality of forum posts regarding the resource panel freaking out displaying huge numbers

- As related to Settlers and food, Now that I've learned more about how the farm plots produce, I've been dropping at least 2 farm plots in all my settlements, until I get a more massive farming settlement running (Abernathy I'm looking at you) The biggest reason I've run this as disabled in the past is because I normally play Survival Mode, and having that Razorgrain coming into the workbench for soup is a MUST!

If you have the setting "Hold Upgrades Until Seen" turned off, you will not have this problem. The other good reason to have auto upgrades off is if the plot upgrades off screen, a lot of times when you get back to it you will have to refresh the plot to get the clutter and beds to be correct.

I have been playing on Scrap Components the last 2 games. The only issue I've noticed is the "daily" numbers in the HUD seem to be incorrect. Also note you can change this setting at any time.
I also can't wait for the SS1 style reports to return!
