Probably a long shot, but has anyone seen a mod that adds Mirelurk or Radscorpion armor? Something along the lines of scavengers cutting apart pieces of exoskeleton and attaching them to cloth or leather for extra protection. I've done a couple Google searches and I'm now on page 40ish of the armor mods on Nexus looking for something of the sort, but all I've come across so far is armor that makes the player look like a Mirelurk complete with claws and some questionable "deathclaw" armor that would be more at home in a Heavy Metal magazine.

I don't recall seeing anything like that.

Surprising. That could be really cool.

Wastelander-style armor, along the lines of fantasy/skyrim primitive armors. Interesting.

Could use something like the Drifter outfit as a base, and Armorsmith Extended style of adding arm/leg/chest plating/leather sewn onto it.

Heh, we were just talking about m150 in another thread. One sec while I dig up the link....

So, while your post reminded me of seeing this mod like 2 years ago lol, it looks like it's the one you might be referring to - However, m150 has tagged all their uploads as "free for other modders' use," so you might be able to take the two 'lurk suits I see in there and break down the parts into something more modular, using the parts over leather straps etc.

Sure enough, that's the full appearance one I was referring to.

I have no real modding experience currently (couldn't even get a custom Sim Settlements plot work right), but Kinggath is doing that tutorial series on modding, so I might try to get into it eventually. If I do, I could see this being one of the ones I eventually put together.
