Salvage Beacons & RotC: Do I need an extra residential plot?

If I build a RotC city plan and then put down a Salvage Beacons communications station and assign a settler to it, do I need to create an extra residential plot for that settler?

I would expect so, I always did before, and I don't think the city planner takes into account settlers assigned to non-SS jobs (which means the provisioners need a bed too!).

Presumably, you can simply scrap one of the plots laid down by the RotC city plan and replace it with a communications station. I had anticipated this issue myself, and my plan was to scrap an existing plot, and manually construct a communications station "plot" myself (made to the same dimensions as 2x2 plot). Kinggath's long-term plan is to have Salvage Beacons incorporated into Sim Settlements, possibly with its own plot. So by making my custom plot to same specifications, it should be easy to replace it later.

However, I'm not sure whether the city plan will replace the scrapped plot when it upgrades. Can someone confirm?

It shouldn't. I tend to replace the normal industrials with advanced industrials and it still appears to work without any problems.

You've still got to power them, right? The comm station doesn't have that problem, at least.

Correct, either ganged generators or if I've got the unlocks a single big one per 2 plots. If I score fusion generator materials then it's entirely problem solved :)
