[Bug] Quest log problem: "Red Handed" & "Listen to Jake's Private Frequency"

Took the note and knife from the door, entered the room.

subquest "search for the robot at the bottom feeder brothel" marks completed

quest does not proceed after that.

please help! using latest SS 1.0.2

Thanks for the spoiler lesson. Appreciate that. Not using any of the mods mentioned in the next thread (or above thread) i.e Fusion City Rising et.al. Just using LiquidSmoke 64 Project X mod. Has never caused any issues to date. Rest of the modes are fairly generic and common. All other SS2 quest have worked beautifully with no issues. Going by what's recommended on the SS2 Nexus page and on the Wiki for mods. Thanks again.
 
I'm having a similar problem. I have the box in my inventory, and I can't find Ventilator anywhere to turn the quest into him. My quest log says I have spoken to Ventilator to end the quest, but I haven't. The quest Red Handed in just sitting in my quest queue, with each stage greyed out as completed and no further step available.

Edited to add: I'm not using any other story mod and nothing that would change any main quests.
 
summoned ventilator to me with "0b020011.moveto player"
odd thing for me was it brought him and joe gallagher so it seems mine bugged because when i turned in joes quest because they have the same reference id for me it marked me as speaking to ventilator also completing his but not actually completing it. just throwing this out there if it helps resolve anything
 
This quest has always been an odd one. It has always done the same for me as barddoc1992 mentioned up there - from my own testing, what happens is once you pick up the box that contains the Mr Handy in it, the next friendly person you speak to no matter who it is will trigger the 'fade to black' that is meant to represent you and Ventilator unboxing the Handy... but since it triggers on anyone, you won't necessarily be in range of them for the immediate cutscene after it to trigger.
I could've sworn I had a Bugreport ticket open about this...

that's super odd but could explain one time quest got bugged for me.. I sent Ventilator to vault 88 after getting the quest, got the box then decided to clear cambridge polymer labs. Talked to Molly the friendly robot, don't remember any fade to black, spent a bunch of time making the thing, came back to Ventilator not having any prompts to end quest and relieve me of the box. What I think I did next was roll back, ignore CPL completely and rush to Ventilator and that worked. Unless my memory just made a bunch of fake stuff up, that was a while ago.
 
I have a bug in this quest too. I finished the questline. I relocated the Ventilator prior to turning in the quest.
Now all i get is the i want to trade a few things dialog. I can't turn in the quest.

I had this happen to me last week with a random encounter npc out in the Commonwealth, went to talk to them then it faded to black and completed the quest but the Ventilator npc didn't work right afterwards. So i had to reload a previous save and go turn in the quest to the Ventilator immediately to fix it.
 
I tried a few things, what actually worked was turning in the box to someone, in my case Valentine, while standing right next to the Ventilator.
 
I'm stuck on this quest as well. Went to the brothel, got the note and the knife, killed the synths, and was told to return to the Ventilator. Problem is, that directive has been checked off even though I have yet to speak to him, and for that matter he's disappeared from Sanctuary and I can't find him. Would appreciate an ID for him so I can try a moveto player. Thanks!
I killed synth, took a hollowtape from it, it sent me to diamond city to look for the robot
 
I have no idea what to do here. I'm playing on Xbox on survival. I have a 50 lb box in my inventory and it says that I need to talk to the ventilator. When I talk to him though all it does is let me trade with him and now I have a 50 lb box in my inventory. I don't have the option to load a previous save.
 
Dang :/ I guess the quest broke and you can't turn it in. This happened to me if I assigned Ventilator to a settlement before finishing it. Without console or rolling back, best I can think of is install cheat terminal or something and give yourself an extra 50 carry weight.
