Randy's shack and Li's shipping shack look really weird

Yesterday I finally got my hands on building a house for Randy Adams. His default one, raised shack with a custom skin. What surprised me was that it had really weird black or grey-ish textures glitching and jumping all over the place. I've made a screenshot but it really doesn't do this thing justice, it was horrifying. I've tried moving it etc, thinking it was in a bad place, only stopped after changing the skin to a non-unique blue one.

April Li's shack starts building up then another weird thing happens, it just deconstructs instead of constructing. By the time it's done, there's nothing left but an open blue container, not even a sleeping bag. Upgrading it to level 2 then 3 doesn't change anything, it seems to build up but ends up an empty container again. This happened every single of my saves for like 5 games now. And both of them used to work at some point (a long time ago, though, on another save), so, double weird.

While on the topic of minor weird graphical things, the birds sitting on top of the pet store and I think level 3 garden (been a while since I built that one) don't have any textures, they're always plain purple. Which looks kinda cool, actually. And both command tent and field hospital from Apocalyptic Additions are entirely purple, no tent textures.

Try to Build Adams House on the ground when i place a Foundation under it with Stone it have always that Black hole under it.Then even the Settlement seams a reason for the glitch in some Settlement i have that Black Hole in other not.
To the Empty Plots Building.there are some Plot that was build for max Performance i think. They real have nothing or only minimal things.

Well, it wasn't exactly a black hole under it, more like black shapes jumping and covering the entire screen around it. But, interesting. Haven't tried the no foundation thing for that.
There are some, yes, but this is not one of them. It even had a glowing "DOG" sign at level 3 (no account for taste, as Nick would say)

On a similar note, Doctor Meztli Jones's custom house skin for that same Raised Shack has never shown as having a bed for me? Like, it still counts as having one on the vanilla HUD, but there isn't one visibly there, and Dr Jones never actually goes home. Anyone else seen that?

Not sure as i never had that skin but are you sure that the House have a Bed then with that skin at all?As i see a lot of Plots that dont use Beds but other things to sleep like a carpet or only a chair.Had today a Residential Plot that had real nothing only a Baseball Statue and a Carped but it count as Home with bed in the Hud.Refresh that thing 10 Times why i was thinking that its stuck or something like that in the Building phase then i give up and google a little bit to find out that is all ok and so intended.

Yes I thought of that. There's a place that looks like it should have a bed, but it doesn't show one, and the settler assigned to it NEVER goes home, just stays up all night standing around.

Don't think it's intended, just broken skins/plots. Some have what "technically" is a bed, and that's probably a feature, but sometimes there's nothing at all. Some skins just leave a ton of clutter floating in mid-air. I've only started this thread cause I swear it used to work properly. At least the first 2 I've pointed out. It's no big deal though.

When building a plot, there are markers that can be used to handle the assignment. Then the author can build pretty much anything into a bed or job.

Most likely, there is a bed marker and the visible bed was missed. The NPC not going there could be due to the way the AI "just works" and can't figure out how to path there. There are a lot of plots that have this issue, mine included...

If you come across plots that don't look right, have invisible object that block pathing or have things spawn in crazy locations... (I found one with a stove a "million" units in the air)

Post a screenshot along with the name of the building plan, author and skin if applicable. Even better, put a red circle on the pic to show the issue. These can be submitted to the team to be fixed.

I swear there USED to be a bed in there, though. And it's not a pathing issue necessarily, even if I arrive at the settlement at 2am when everyone else is in their beds, she's still standing out in the street somewhere.

EDIT: Here, I took some screenshots. This is at plot level 2. First image is the downstairs where she's building a little library, those couple of boxes I'm looking straight at sitting where the floor WOULD be, if that one panel of wood-flooring wasn't missing (plot is sitting on a Clay Terraform-Foundation). Could also do with a 'browsing the shelves' animation-marker in front of one of the shelves in there, I've seen Visitors sit on the chairs upstairs but nothing down here, but that's just me.

Second image is upstairs where I presume her bed's meant to be. She doesn't strike me as the type to want to sleep on top of a wooden crate, and I swear in older versions of the mod (like, pre 1.0.15 or so?) there used to be a mattress there.

There is a setting for clutter and other things in Performance. Depending on how the plot author tagged items and your settings things like this can happen. We are engorged to use these tags for clutter, radios, lights etc so that if players have their performance settings low lots of things won't show up.

Nothing on that plot+skin appears to be flagged as Clutter at all, at least nothing that is affected by that setting in the holotape/MCM - tried changing it back and forth and Refreshing the plot several times, no visible change, guessing all the "Institute-themed" decorations she has in there aren't flagged as that and are just statically part of the plot-skin.

This is the plot+skin I am referring to, for reference.

Same, my clutter options are generally on (death sentence on xbox but I just prefer to build less but have it dispay properly instead of stuff rolling on invisible conveyor belts etc). One that comes to mind is Tin Can residential plot with a skin from a multi residential, I think Scrapheap Sunrise. Didnt even think that was a thing until the Murkwater city plan built it.

I don't know if the skins were updated for the added performance settings. IIRC, it was @Rudy who volunteered to add the performance settings to the base building plans.

I also remember @RobotsSmell finding that if a building skin was marked as Add instead of Replace, the items added by the skin plan would not be removed when changing to another skin plan. I do not know if that was fixed. I vaguely remember being told to not mark a skin plan as Add for now...

I wonder if any of the OP issues are related to reported issue #531?

I stand corrected; just got back to Sunshine in the middle of the night and it turns out Dr Jones does actually sleep there; albiet hovering far enough above those crates that it really looks like there SHOULD be a mattress in there.

... and her plots were due for upgrade; at level 3 that skin DEFINITELY has problems, like every 'unique' part of that skin is set to display about 4 inches lower than where it should be. (first pic is downstairs; second pic is upstairs next to the "bed", which is still just a pile of empty crates; third pic is the little table on the upstairs balcony)

Re-bumping this thread now that I finally managed to actually recruit April Li myself (yes, first time I ever got her to spawn and the quest actually progressed properly); yeah something odd's going on with her personal Residential plot. It's like, half of a shipping container and that's IT at level 1. Not even anything registering as a 'bed'.

Picture as evidence.

EDIT with more details: I just stood and watched it as it upgraded from level 1 to 2; I could see more furniture and objects appearing during the 'building process', but as soon as it finished upgrading those all vanished again, leaving only the now two empty half-shipping containers and a staircase up onto the second 'floor'.

I can confirm this. First time I've had it happen. Had to remove the skin to fix the glitch. Reapplying it brought it back

Strange for me that bug never come up again from that moment i understand to use always a Wood foundation under it.the only other thing that is possible that come in my mind is the Settlement as i remember when i see the glitch the last time it happen only in some Settlement. And i use that Plot and skin a lot.Can you make a Test and place that Plot in a Settlement far away from Water? As 1 more thing i remember all place where i had that glitch had water in some way behind the Plot.
