Question about mechanics

I haven't looked into the mod files yet cause I guess it's easier for someone to answer my questions here than for me fiddling it out by myself... so:

Where do the settlers used for hauling actually come from?
Are they drawn from the setllers of the specific settlement chosen (The one where the station is)?
If so, how about the work or stations they are currently assigned to? Do they interrupt work and return to it once they are back? Or would you have to keep some settlers unemployed.
And about their equipment - when drawn from the actual pool why don't they keep their equipment?

Seeing all that, and considering what I have read abot the mod in various posts in Nexus and here, I suppose they just get spawned in to start marching and spawned out once their task is finished, so the population of the respective settlement would not be affected at all, except for the one person assigned to the station - is that correct?

If I remember right, the NPC's doing the "actual" hauling are spawned simply for immersion. They're not even actually carrying the goods, the script transfers the goods at a set time based on distance from the settlement you have the station at, where the items are being picked up from, and where they're going to. So none of your actual settlers are being utilized for the mod other than the one assigned to the beacon station and they stay at the beacon station.

Yes - I have read the part about them not carrying the goods as well - and that those goods just get transferred by script once they reach their target.
Just about the settlers themseves I couldn't fins a post, hence my question...

I suspected them being just spawned in from th beginning, cause there is a mod out there changing their appearal...
A shame in a way - would be nice to assign some settlers to the actual hauling, who would be kinda waiting and loitering until they are called to duty..
