I'm going to start releasing these as we finish them up as public beta files. Ultimately, they will be incorporated into Rise of the Commonwealth, but these external City Plans will allow us to get some feedback in the meantime.

Jamaica Plain - Optimized ESP Version
Jamaica Plain - Optimized ESL Version

What Has Changed?

The goal was to keep the general feel and theme of each of the City Plans, yet cut down the amount of items by a substantial amount. We did this by targeting two things:

1. Reduce settler support to a max of 15 on any settlement. This means eliminating plots, beds, and jobs so that the City Plan would naturally only support 15 - though you are welcome to build more things to support additional settlers. We made sure to never remove all of a plot type if it existed in the settlement, so there should be a nice variety in the Optimized plans.

2. Removed excessive detail and non-structural supporting pieces. A lot of the City Plan designs made heavy use of layering items on top of each other to give a very detailed look, removing them allowed us to maintain the form of the City Plan while reducing the total load substantially.

What Should I Expect?

It is assumed that if you are going to use these plans, you'll probably turn off Clutter in the performance options. Turning that off, plus using these optimized plans will reduce the load caused by these City Plans by 30-50%. This means that you should not crash, and your FPS should not plummet (though if you're using a scrap mod, it may still).

If using these plans, you find yourself still crashing - please respond to this post to let me know what level you had problems on.

Can I Use This Beta Version Forever?

Yes, though it likely won't ever be updated again - so once the City makes it to Level 3, you don't need it anymore. Switching to the version that will be incorporated with Rise of the Commonwealth eventually will require that you start the City Over.

Known Issues

One of the causes of crashing in a settlement is sprinting through it. It's especially noticeable in settlements that stretch multiple cells such as Sanctuary and Sunshine Tidings Co-op. If you found yourself crashing inside of a City Plan and you happened to be sprinting, that could be the cause.

If you'd like to test the XBox version please send me a DM. If you've already sent me a message, I will get back to you soon!

You don't even need to sprint if you have speed buffs such as legendary armor speed bonuses + CWSS Redux's toilet speed boost (haha) + standard perks with speed bonuses. Just a regular running speed can do it if you don't pause. Sometimes it's best to just walk.:)

If I already have JP built, but want to try this out, should I just use the option on the desk to rebuild the city?

No. This plan will show up as an alternate version. So you would select it from the Select City Plan option and it would restart your Jamaica Plain from the foundation level as this alternate build.

So once these plans make it out of beta and become part of the main mod, will they replace the existing plans or will they be offered as an alternative? I for one would prefer the latter option, because I like to keep the more detailed and resource heavy version for future playthroughs, as my pc can handle it, but I also completely understand that these plans eat up quite a bit of performance and there should be a more fps friendly alternative.

However, this would also mean more work since there are now 2 versions to maintain, so I'm curious which route you are aiming to take with these plans. I'm rooting for having both plans available, but I would certainly understand why that might not be feasible.

As I understand there Will be 2 versions in the mod (in the future) 1 normal and 1 optimized.
I´d also like to mantain both of them, because i want to see all plans (haven´t yet) in a test playthrough and would use optimized versions in the main playthrough

I’m either going to find a way to combine them so that they just reflect the performance options, or i’ll offer them as a separate set. The only reason I might need to replace the detailed plans and separate those to a separate mod is if the file size bloats too large. If I have to do that, i’ll be sure to include a hand off method like the megapack uses so you can gracefully switch to the high end option or visa versa.
