Public Beta 2.2.4

I actually had forgotten that was an intended feature until I started digging into our implementation notes! The goal was for there to be enough stuff to get through the tutorial without running into red numbers, and now that I've changed the HUD that sort of revealed the failure. So now we get more information and a slightly easier starting point for HQ - which is a double-win since we need more ways to smooth out the learning curve.
a) I hope I was of some help:)
b) I could swear that before I unlocked power transfer, I had a green bar at the bottom with about 650 power demand, I assumed that was because I had finally got to 1000 power engineering, since, when I only had a few engineering personnel the bar was red; and when my engineering energy x10 passed the power demand the bottom bar turned green. Would this have been a malfunctioning hud then? Or was this a pre 2.2.4 display?
Can I just query what building the power generating room does, does it simply increase the max personnel that can be assigned to engineering?

New guy recruits just fine. Details inside big spoiler tab to help @Cessori in updating the wiki.
Is that the same voice actor as "Archon", btw?

It's during quest "Don't Drink The Bath Water", available from the "Distillery" in 2x2 Industrial Conversion class. When you first wake back up (at location "Mystic Pines") this "Tom Sanford" guy will be standing there and fill you in on what he saw while you were 'out'. He was always there, but now there's a branch of his dialog to ask if he wants to work for you.

A variety of speech checks are required to get him to actually become one of your settlers; I don't know what other variations there are if any, but these are options I had.

do not question the Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Sunglasses

His stats are absurdly good too.

And it appears that his "talking to the player as you walk past in a settlement" dialog lines include handing you gifts; he just gave me ~100 caps.

Yep - that's spacefiddle, same VA! He actually recorded the settler lines for us over a year ago - but the person managing that part of the project departed and it got stuck in limbo.

That was just pre 2.2.4 not considering surplus power available in the HUD.

Those are not the specials I was expecting for Tom. I was expecting Charisma for Commercial plots

Nice to see the workshop plus get an update specifically for the flight system it was always hit and miss for me.

Latest updates to SS2 and WSFW causes CTD immediately upon loading current save. New game works fine. Do I really have to start over again?

You can try to rollback SS2 and WSFW to the previous version and reload a game before they were updated(if you have it, if not try the one you have if that's your only option there). I'm going to update Workshop Plus and WSFW and not SS2 and Chapter 2 and see what happens. If it doesn't take, I'll roll them back.

Is it instant or does it take a second or two after loading finishes? I sometimes get the latter when fast travelling to settlements, but if I keep trying by loading the autosave, eventually it works without crashing. Annoying, but I'll just read something while loading for the nth time.

I've had some luck turning off auto-repair and auto-destroy(which are off by default), but encountered ctds after updating to the beta version before this release even with those settings off. Let's see what a 'partial' update does...

Just started a new game, with a clean install. The setting for attack on HQ keep resetting itself to off. Disabled all esl, esm, esp not required for basic SS2 and started a new game but no, this setting keep reverting it self to off.

Instant as in I get a very brief view of the location and then CTD. Have tried multiple loads of the save.

Yep, after CTD with Abernathy a couple of playthrough ago, the first thing I do on a new game is turn them off. More trouble than their worth currently. Also tried only reverting WSFW to previous version, no joy.

Here I'm trying the opposite- where at first, I rolled everything back to 2.2.3a(I think it was that), then loaded my game up and ran around no problems. Then I updated WSFW and Workshop Plus to the newest version and kept SS2 and Chapter 2 at 2.2.3x respectively. Other than a crash within minutes of loading when clicking on a settler, my current game-save is up and running. I was thinking, if I can upgrade the packages in 'stages'(WSFW first, then give the VM time to settle) to keep from the VM having to deal with existing stack frames from scripts that have been updated(no longer are the same) to the minimum, the better off I'd be. Whether it's leads to corrupting the frames or a bug in Bethesda's VM engine(should drop frames but doesn't, or even does drop frames but chained scripts are set to handle that), I'm not sure. So far so good though. I'm getting ready to update SS2 and Chapter 2 here in just a bit

Generally when the max population seems out of whack its because the City Plan being used has bad data. For example, all of the RotC City Plans have incorrect numbers set in them (it's on my list to get fixed).
ha wish I'd known this before my last playthrough. I hadn't had a city plan build and upgrade properly since SS1 so I tried a "RoTC plans only" run thinking that would weed out some of the more glaring errors. At least I noticed your comment before assigning any plans this run!

Do you have a recommendation for which levelled plans to use to test out city building in SS2? It's difficult to pin down the SS2 errors because so many of the community created plans are themselves riddled with errors.

Are there any tweaks for city plans on 2.2.4? On 2.2.3 I'm using a ton of them. I've ran into an issue upgrading them, as described here, even though HQ works for this. But a new issue I found is that trying to upgrade a city plan without leader from HQ, I'd get a message that "this settlement ran out of scrap and upgrade will continue when there is some" and since that they disappear from the list forever. Even after assigning leaders, refreshing the plan, raising build limits, adding supply agreements for them. Had this happen at Egret and Boston Airport where I did that.
