Tonight's public beta fixes an issue that should have been resolved a long time ago - Where There's Smoke getting stuck for some players. Apologies it took so long, I had never run into it myself and it was only recently pointed out that I missed a main quest bug on the confirmed report list.
  • Added a new field that can be set manually in City Plan sub-layouts through the CK called ‘bDoNotUseCinematicMode’, which allows for bypassing that layout from forcing the player into cinematic mode.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Jake to run back to the hardware store during Where There’s Smoke if the previous quest was skipped or the player declined the explanation of those plot types.
    • If you had this issue previously, SS2 will attempt to teleport Jake to Aiden and in theory the scene should resume. If you find this is not the case, please let me know and I'll try one more thing before launch of the patch. Barring that, you'd want to load a save before the fight.
  • During New Plots on the Block, the camera should no longer clip into Jake’s face when working on the Comm Hub.
    • If you know of particular quest moments where this occurs for other quests, please let me know as I now have a solution, but don’t have notes on all of the moments this happens to apply the fix.
  • During New Plots on the Block, Jake will now snap into working on the Comm Hub if he gets stuck pathing for more than 2 seconds.
  • During Where There’s Smoke, adjusted the location Jake runs back into the room from, to try and eliminate a silly looking moment after the radio conversation.
  • Odette should now correctly greet the player again if they declined her initial offer, or if they accidentally walked away from the conversation before answering.
  • If Breakhart Banks was already cleared before the quest A Kiss Before You Leave Me, the molerats should now correctly attack the player.
  • Fixed a dialogue condition with Dr. Meztli Jones that would result in her quest not functioning if the player had Overdue Books in their inventory before completing it.
  • Fixed a bug where the player could end up with the “If I Had a Hammer” objectives before Old Paul gave them the quest.
  • Added collision to model kgSIM_PBP_InsLightFixture01.
  • Fixed issues with two light models that could cause crashing under certain circumstances: SS2_Ohnno_kgSIM_PoweredLightFancy_yellow and SS2_NoPower_Light_Lantern.
  • MALA should now correctly return to Concord and resume patrolling shortly after the end of Chapter 1.
  • Added a larger hitbox to the wall-mounted ASAM sensor so there are more places it can be interacted with than just the screen.
  • Fixed a bug that would prevent City Plans from actually being removed correctly.
  • Fixed several bugs with the Laser Cannon that could result in strange character animation issues or duplicate models.
  • The raider leader during the quest Casting a Line will no longer start the game spawned where he could be killed accidentally, and will instead be spawned during the quest.
  • Most SS2 controllers will no longer react to the player entering or exiting the settlement if in Cinematic Mode. This should reduce some of the script backup that can occur during City Plan placement.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Audra, Knox, and Anton from speaking any of their settler dialogue.

Download Public Beta 1.0.8a

Should be a few more fixes added in the next couple days as well, likely will be one more public beta Thursday before this launches proper on Friday.

GoogleDrive says the file's only 584MB, is that right? I thought they were usually 900+?

EDIT Oh, I see, the SS2 - Textures.ba2 isn't in that 7z file. That won't cause problems will it?

IIRC, this also happens while Jake is accessing Magnusson's terminal in Hub of the Problem.

@yaugieLC as long as no new textures were added you shouldn't need to update SS2 - Textures.ba2

I can't get the public beta to download, using Chrome should I use a different browser?

Nevermind

Depends on your mod manager... I'm so used to just doing my installs manually, it slipped my mind to include that.

I do manual installs at all times, so it was fine, as msalaba said up there, the texture file from the old version was still in my Data folder.
I must admit though, I've had to triple check I even copied the new ba2 and esm files over into the Data folder, since several of those fixes you mentioned up there don't seem to have taken effect - Audra/Knox still have no dialog, and Odette still only has her 'idle dialog'. Wall ASAMs definitely have a much bigger 'hitbox' now though...

I just re-tested all three of those (Audra/Knox/Odette) and they seem to be working. Could be one of those things that just won't be fixable in an existing save because Bethesda things...

The laser canon fix I remember old Paul sitting up there spinning side to side but when the seat would clip he would fall off I laughed pretty hard cause I'm sure he broke a hip doing that.

will any of this help prevent Jake from hanging around the settlement instead of going back to concord to his shop I find him working plots occasionally then the rest of the time he’s wandering sanctuary. If I go to his shop for quests he will teleport back if I wait a hour.

Him working plots is likely due to whatever bug is causing NPCs to get stuck with old animation markers. My gut says its a problem with WSFW that I'm going to try and address tomorrow.

Nice good to hear also the last patch made setting up city plans super fast was impressed.
