I just thought of something regarding Chapter 2 — I assume a lot of people would want a fresh start but wouldn't want to go through all the tutorial stuff. So, I am willing to make a save that drops you at the end of Chapter 1.
This presents a couple issues. One, you're choosing the gender of the Sole Survivor. I like Nora. You might prefer Nate. Two, and more importantly, you're choosing SPECIALs. I rock S4 P4 E3 C6 I6 A1 L4 from Vault 111.
There is a third issue here — the ASAM building stuff you MUST do in Chapter 1. Also, fourth issue, the relocation of the named group of settlers (I forget their names). Where do they go? Regarding these issues, I'm pretty sure if you don't like my choices, you can tear down everything I've done and do your own thing, but I'm not sure you can move the group of named settlers away from the settlement you sent them all to.
I am willing to do this for the community; however, there are a couple factors to consider. Every 2 weeks, Kinggath uploads a new SS2. I am assuming Chapter 2 will be rolled into such an update and not its own mod to be installed alongside SS2. That being said, I want to create the save on the last version of SS2 that does not include Chapter 2, so as to provide the most seamless transition. So I would need to know the release date to plan accordingly (I won't share it, if trusted with that information, and I would upload the save on release day, after Kinggath posts the Chapter 2 update).
Of course this save would be compatible with everything. You would only need to have the same SS2 version I used or newer, which ostensibly you would if you were looking to skip right to Chapter 2. Anything you want to add like other mods, you would just drop those in. The only issue is stuff you'd need from the beginning. Like, if you want to play as "not Shaun's parent," this save wouldn't be for you (SS is scripted to act like you are Shaun's parent anyway). There are a few other mods that like to be installed from the beginning. Another one is Crime and Punishment, which is fine being loaded in later, but you won't get Karma for earlier actions. So you'd have to accept that "hit."
I have a few other ideas. I want to touch as few things as possible. Anything I can skip over, like saving Preston's crew, I'm going to. So I will clear Concord and tell Jake that Preston and them are on their own. Jake accepts this and you can go back and get them whenever you want — if you want to. Some don't. I won't take a single level, fire a single shot, or loot a single body. I'll grab the baton out of Vault 111 and just use that and TGM (toggle god mode). So, you know, there's like 100 rounds of 10mm ammo in Vault 111, two 10mm pistols, three Stimpacks, two (now one) batons, and a bunch of other stuff. Some Vault 81 tools. Some scrap/salvage. So I think most players think they'll go back for the Cryolator, but many actually don't. This will give you more incentive to go back. I'll also leave Sanctuary (and its root cellar), Concord, and other places completely unlooted, so you would have that experience. All I need is one melee weapon. Ideally I'd like to keep places undiscovered, too, but this will present a bigger challenge. I can't avoid unlocking Sanctuary, Concord, and a couple other places, but I will try to creatively avoid other locations or use COC (center on cell) to skip over others. None of this stuff is strictly necessary, but I'm thinking about how I'd want it done for me. And, the more work I do, as just one person, the less work everyone else has to do. "The needs of the many" and all that.
If anyone thinks strongly that I should do this (for them, or for the community as an asset), please tell me your opinions on the four issues I've raised: Sole Survivor's gender, SPECIALs, which settlement to do SS2/Chapter 1 tutorial ASAM stuff in, and which settlement to send the stray settler group to (and which plan, base SS2 or SS2: ROTC, to use). If not... well, I'm sure someone on the Nexus will do it regardless. I'd like to do it with the guidance and approval of the SS2 community.
