[Solved 1.0.16] Jake's weird behaviour. Not responding, not moving, need to reload area to make something happen

If Jake enters Olivia's bunker and there is imidiate combat (for instance, if you are using some kind of multiplicative mobs like "more enemies"), Jake will no intereact with the computer. The quests advances untill you have to return to him and if you interact it will say he is busy.

Quick load didn't work, load from main menu didn't work. Teleporting Jake to the computer to try to jump start him didn't work.

Replicable, I load a save before entering Olivia bunker and got the same result.

Work around: leave olivia bunker and enter again. If he doesn't move after openning the door, just teleport him near the box cache spoiler name thingy.

My 2 cents: Jake enter in combat mode before something about the quest could trigger and the trigger isn't veryfied again once he leaves combat.

Had the same problem with the hub of the problem.

Jake doesnt move most of the times. Sometimes he access the front door terminal from 5 meters away. When it came to Magnussun, I tryied teleporting him next to the terminal and when I tryied to speak with him, it would just say "individual is busy", indicating he was interacting with the terminal, but the cutscene wouldn't trigger. Had to use the same workaround as before. Leave and enter the building until he finally he started talking.

I know it is a different quest (and one with a million threads about it), but I'm putting the report here due to the similarities I found before. Somehow, it seems it is the same problem.

Down to the next floor the weidness continue... this is him interacting with the terminal moments before he says he fould the spoiler things that allow you to do stuff. But of cource, not befose I leave and enter the cave again.

I see a few mods that have been known to cause dialog issues. Depravity, Outcasts and remnants, Project Valkyrie, Fusion City Rising. Start Me Up could be an issue, any Faction Redux, Especially Raiders, Gunners or Ghouls.

I know, but the thing is that I'm using this settup, or something very similar, at least since December. It's not the first time this happens. The first playthrough I had this problem I though it was because I changed Jake's cloths... The only aditions from this setup from the previous one (which I completed chapter 1 and when till lvl 130 +/-) is that I used GCM to reduce gained exp and added a few snipers.

As for start me up, I always do the vault, I just use it to skip the old world and to have access to the unique perks, so it should give enough time to SS2 to start up correctly.

It is impossible to me to be sure, cause bethesda.... but I don't think it is a mod conflict... I just couldn't pin point what gets Jake lobotomized.
 
ok, I'm not 100% sure of this, so if any1 else did this, please let me know, but I think the both times he "died" was when I cheated to get all the plot types from the start.

Might have nothing to do it it, but who knows? Who would be OCD enough to cheat and do the quests anyway.... besides me ofc :P

I did last playthrough. Cheated everything and still did the quests. I think it broke my game but I did that too.
 
I'm starting a new playthrough with 1.0.14 and I'm not gonna cheating in this time. And gonna build my settlements by hand again. It will take a few days untill I have enough testing, but when I have any result I'll post it here. If Jake doesn't break will do another one, now with cheats, and see if he gets stupid... from there only way to help would be to look at the code itselft...

Report time:

I considered reduced my mod list, but kept the ones that I really want to see work with SS2 (this include Outcasts and such). After I killed the deathclaw in concord is when Jake dies. From now forth he won't move.

If I enter the museum to talk to Garvey, then we will teleport to the workshop and continue the quest.

When I continue the quest. He spawns on his default position (I assume), which is inside the house near the workshop. I do the dialog, he tells me to go farming and he doesn't move. Just keep repeating "Go ahead! Put it where ever you lile".... I would really advise him to stop saying that.... I place the 2x2 farm, the ASAMy voice does it thing, I get the task complete cue, it updates the quest log, but Jake just stands there doing nothing. I'm standing on top of the farm plot. Quicksave/Quickload does nothing, neither go to main menu and back.

I've done enough playthroughs to know that's it.... I can use console commands to teleport jake around and force him to do some stuff, but very soon there will have a quest where I won't be able to advance.

I know people had problems with the Outcasts and all of those mods, and people also had problems with StartMeUp. But as I stated before, I did more than one playthrough with those mods. I also know that the "Way to the Lost" compilation put all of the mentioned mods as compatible.

I Managed to pinpoint when it breaks, now I'll find out what is breaking it. I'll find out exactly which mod it is. This is going to take a long while, but I'm stuburn.

Quick edit: I did not cheat this playthrough, so that's probably irrelevant.

I've been the past hour and a half disabling and enabling mods, trying to get Jake to move with no success. Probably the save is already corrupt and a new playthrough will be required.

I've trimmed the mods even more, to the point that I'm gonna cry if I remove another one :p

Gonna have to start a new game and will report probably tomorrow if the modlist is workable.

You need to get rid of project Valkryie, Fusion City Rising and outcast and Remnents
Sorry, I'm not ignoring you, but I'm also not crazy and as I stated before, I finished chapter 1 more than once with those mods active. I just need to get rid of the ones that are breaking the game this time.

Also... since this is Bethesda we are talking about, just because it works on my machine it doesn't mean it will work on another :)

Also just cause it worked a dozen other times doesn't mean it will a dozen and one.
 
I got lucky and finished the ss2 quests with my dialog camera off a few times. Haven't been able to do it since. Things change. Don't know why sometimes but they do.
