Question Prebuild/Pre-conquered settlements selection: Duplicate/missing entries

When I started a new game to take advantage of 4.2.0's new "War Always Changes" feature, I had the usual problem of settlements missing, and settlements being duplicated.

Prior to 4.2, the workaround for this seemed to be "buying" these settlements and then they'd automatically become the correct ones. However, as of 4.2.0 this no longer works. On top of that, this duplication glitch now appears on the player side sometimes as well.

When I've encountered this, it seemed to be because the game wasn't through loading everything.

If I exit out of the dialogue box, do something else for about ten minutes, and try again, it usually sorts out.

I only encountered this in the earlier versions of Conqueror. Not since then. and I do a lot of pre-builds.

I have in practice learned to wait. after you sell the settlements, wait. Let the notifications finish.

Then tab. Pick city plans. Sell... wait.

Let every sequence finish before playing nascar to get the system rolling.

There are a lot of city plans in the pack now.

Setting up conqueror may seem like a lengthy process. But the time is well spent so it is done right. Doing it over again and frustrated takes even more time.

I have seen stated and repeated over and over. The game engine, especially in prewar, is fragile. Accept this and things will go so much smoother.

And only hours and hours of prebuilds can I say trust me on this.

Which by the way, is why I do the prebuilds. A completely fresh install. No legacies. Fresh mod installs in a quarantine manner (one by one - not picking 20 mods and hit install, then go play in another application-yes, this can result in poor installations - I have the proof! Me! Poor me!) :)

Honestly, save yourself time, grief, and frustration, skip prewar, use one of my prebuilds, do your character creation in the elevator. Bake your save per @RayBo.

You will be more infinitely satisfied.

The immersion factor of doing prewar just isnt worth it.

Merry Christmas!

This is yet another reason I wish the crew would move the Conqueror City Options Popup to a manual trigger (IE, you click on a holotape on the toilet and then it brings it up) instead of an automatic trigger (Just have the automatic trigger tell you the tape is there.)

That way, you could wait for everything to load before doing this, and not run the risk of the box not showing up at all (which is what happens if you wait on the character creation for too long).

I have not found auto triggers to be reliable.... though personally in doing lots of prebuilds, I have had a missed Conqueror trigger.

StartMeUp also has an auto trigger as well and some are using along with Conqueror. Not sure if there is a collision of trigger .
