Patch 3.4.0 - Weapons of Mass Destruction is live now!

Understoond. I'm not on Xbox and I'm using SS2 Extended.
Did you do the Science Research project at HQ:
Command Mode: SCIENCE > TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH > ENGRAMTAPE DECRYPTION: ARCHIMEDES PROGRAM

I went back to an older save, but still didn't get the option to upgrade plots to mk 2 asams. I can make solar reflectors and I can do atomic rain strikes. One thing I think I noticed is that Magnusson says he left something in my quarters, but I don't see anything there. I did already find the euclid in the police station much eariler in the game.

Annnd, immediately crashes after the destroy plot animation when upgrading the 3x3 martial plot to Helios.

So I've finished a completely new playthrough and I still cant' update update to marvel plots. I complete the research and I can create solar panels,do atomic rain strikes and I can create the mk II asams. If I look in blacklisted plots the Helios plot is available to be blacklisted; as well as other "marvel" plots. When I create a 3x3 martial plot, I have no option on the "customize" menu to update the sensor. It's funny that I also never find the "blue door" of the vendor near Bunker Hill. These are the only things are consistent from game to game.

So you can build a ASAM Sensor MKII, and have it in your inventory when you are trying to upgrade the 3x3 Martial plot?
Here's the link to the informaton about the ASAM Sensor MKII and how to use it. Perhaps there is something there that will help.

I've been having the same problem through two playthroughs. I have another one in progress (though it's been shelved as I've been playing Starfield w/ McC and WT) to see if it still happens. Complete the advanced research projects, craft MKII ASAM, have it in personal inventory, build 3x3 Martial, active ASAM on plot, no option to upgrade ASAM. Not the most minimal of load orders (though not that complex) and on the NG version, so I haven't uploaded saves for reference before.

Hmm, sorry to hear this.
I'm on a bit of a break from playing and replaying SS2. Unfortunately, the devs can't use NG saves to delve into bugs because they can't load the save files.
It could be that something has broken for the newest content. KG is currently play testing through the story and is on Chapter 2.
I'll not be returning to testing untl I manage to get a working version of OG on my new computer -- hopefully in July when I'm on vacation.
I will add looking into this then. Sounds like something happened to the ASAM Sensor menu options if the upgrade option isn't available.

I went to an earlier save and went through the process exactly as described. Same behavior: I can create Mark 2's, and solar reflectors, but the option to update 3x3 marital plots isn't available on the "customize plot" menu. I tried with plots created before the feature was available and after.

Two things to consider: 1) I notice that I don't get the dialogue where Magnusson says he'll put a targeting gun in my quarters 2) I did use the "cheats" menu to unlock all plots, plans, classes, tools, etc. when I first started the game. Could that have something to do with it? Also, am I supposed to wait for him to specifically tell me to do the research? Because I didn't. I did find the targetting gun in the BADFTL. It doesn't work with error "no uplink available"...which makes sense since there's no tower.

Ya, I think we have an issue logged for the Magnusson telling you there is a targeting gun in your quarters .. don't see it now.
The building plan for the 3x3 Martial plot doesn't unlock with that cheat.

I logged an issue about the research required for the Martial 3x3 Plot unlock, because for many times I played it, i saw the popup for the Engramtapes, but I didn't think to do anything about it because I didn't read the popup fully. I asked for a misc quest to start up to tell you to do the first research project. The quests to research them doesn't initiate until after you've done the first one, unless you have allied with the gunners, then you get the research quests.
The information for those projects is in the quest guides on the Wiki (but hidden a bit) since it's considered bonus content.
