New feature for city planner

I’m thinking that this could be relatively easy done and could make the experience better for players who don’t really use city plans.

At this point tags are added to plots and if we want to avoid certain types of plots we can blacklist them if we don’t want to have them randomly selected. This system is fine and serves a purpose but could do a little bit more.

This would serve mainly to players who want to build their settlements, place the plots where they want but don’t want to select every single plot plan themselves.

The idea would be to have something the city planner desk (or something similar) would start and ask “positive” questions. What look do you want included in the random selection. And then apply it as a local setting.

I know that this is basically achievable but going to local plan and blacklisting everything else but as an experience it would feel better. Also, as we get more and more tags doing the “blacklist everything else” way will end up a real pain.

That would bring an issue though, as it’s unlikely every tag will have every plot type of every sizes. So what if I do a Brotherhood settlement but there are not brotherhood caravan plots? If there is a raider caravan plot it would clash way too much. Are we back to needing to blacklist everything?

I would suggest adding a tag “faction neutral” could mostly resolve it. That was if the tag requested is unavailable the first selection of random plot could use this pool to avoid conflicts and if nothing is available then go to complete randomness.

So that’s the idea of the day. I’m not completely sure the best way to implement it but I still think there is a way to use the tags in a way that it feels more interesting and in a creative way.
