More sources for ASAM boxes.

The concept of having your settlers build it on their own is greatly slowed by lack of ASAM boxes. Maybe have Trash Can Carla offer a box from time to time like concrete shipments? Or maybe more quests to find boxes of ASAMs once you open each settlement area?

Guaranteed Chalk locations
20 in Parsons Asylum
12 in Fens St. sewer
5 in Fort Hagen
4 in Fraternal Post 115
4 in Poseidon Energy
3 in Trinity Tower
3 in Sat station Olivia

That's 51 free ASAMs from Sickle plus you can make them at a city planners desk. I don't remember what scrap you need though

And I bought ASAMs from vendors too. Maybe not boxes but I’ve bought 3 or 4 on multiple occasions. On top of being available to make as mentioned above.

Yeah, Trashcan Carla definitely stocks a handful of them, and she seems to be standing there smoking in the street in Sanctuary more often than not.

She will also nick your PA given half a chance.

I used to play with the WRVR companion mod, so I've had it thoroughly drilled into me to remove the core when I get out. (Also helps that Power Armor Storage System has an option to do it automatically.)

What vendors have Sensors? Because I have been hitting Carla, trudy, Myrna, and The lady in Bunkerhill who's name i don't remember and I have yet to see them. And I'm not gonna go running to West Everett everytime I want to build a settlement. Fortunately I CAN make them and thanks to Lootable Crates mod, a quick pop into a vault gives me enough mats to make them. IT WOULD be nice to be able to make them by the box. Instead of one at a time. Maybe an unlock for completing a quest. You can now make a box of 32 Asams at a time.

Personally I got them from general merchants mostly. Trudy, Carla and the store in Diamond city that is open at night. I think I also got one from vault 81 but I may be wrong.

And you should be able to make boxes. I know I have the option to make boxes of 20. It’s not cheaper than making 20 one by one but I have it.

I will check the stores this play through. Also I'm not fussed if its not cheaper as far as materials. Thanks for your help Irealys. :3

There is a new mod on Nexus that lets you build Asam's with less scrap and no crystal or fiber optics

Sim Settlements 2 Tweaks (Cheaper ASAMs) at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community
I saw that. materials is not an issue for me because I use Lootable Crates, so nearly every wooden box or Vault tec crate is full of things like crystal and fiber optics and what not. I do how ever like the idea of hitting the button one or two times to get lots of 20 instead of spamming to make them one by one. But, this could be super helpful for others so thanks for posting it out there.

I've bought ASAM sensors from vendors. Last one I remember is the robot in Good Neighbor, they can carry 3 or 4 at a time. However this does seem to be behind progress on SS2 as I was not always able to buy them, even after finishing the quest. It was just recently (no updates on SS2) that I was able to buy them. I have no idea what progress unlocks them but I have been getting a lot of unlocks, never saw a particular one that points to that though

I've been told you can purchase them from vendors as well, but I have never seen them at any vendor I had unlocked (once I learned they were marked as junk which is silly) If any one knows what triggers vendors to start selling them, I'd like to have that info. Currently I have Carla, Trudy and Myrna unlocked.

Workshop Plus "free-build" is the best bet to do much building. You may then want to select unlock all plot types then?
Carla and others sell them, for me right away?
Help ASAM 4 - also works for boxes. The video below will show where the ID is as you have to scroll up to the top in the console.

I think new settlers may come with their own ASAMs, after all why would you help a guy that have nothing to give :grin

Doesn't make any sense in the story. Jake is happy to give you the ASAMs because most people don't care or understand. When Old Paul joins, Jake tells you that this is the first new settler thanks to ASAMs. The only other people who actually used ASAMs got destroyed by gunners. It simply doesn't work to have settlers already have them.

And I'm not even gonna go into the morals of your sentence.

But as I said earlier I would not be against getting some vendors selling boxes but I think I could have an idea that would fit well in story. The supermutant who is willing to trade chalk for individual ASAMs could also sell boxes but, seeing he's hoping to get chalk for his headaches, he'd be selling them at an expensive price. It would also make dragging your ass back to this unmarked location worth it more. Right now, going back there to trade my 3 chalk for 3 ASAMs really isn't worth it.

But there are situations where I would be happy to overpay for ASAMs if I can get 20 or 40 in one shot.

I was joking :blush

But if you really want a roleplay idea we can speak of an industrial plot that would furnish ASAM sensors

I thought about it last week. This is one that could easily be completely unbalanced. Not that this has ever stopped addon creators before. I remember a few power plots that were insanely overpowered in SS1. So I am actually expecting someone to do it but personally with how I like to play, it would need to achieve a level of balance somehow for me to use it. After all if I wanted to just have something that makes ASAMs so easy to obtain it's like they are free, I'd just turn the settings to make them free.

But yeah, I would be shocked if we don't have someone making something like that before Christmas.
