Question Mole Rat Den Crashing on Save and Infinite loading while exiting.

As the title says when i save inside the Mole Rat den bellow the Red Rocket in Sacntuary my game crashes, also when i try to exit it the game goes into the infinite loading bug. At first i thought it was Conqueror but it still happens with Conqueror disabled. However when i disable the SS .esm file the game behaves normally again.

I use fo4edit to fix my load order, no major conflicts detected.

When you disable the SS.esm is it the absolute last mod that is still enabled?

Also, you still may need to roll back your save when you test it. It sounds like the glitch / problem might be already baked into the save file?

I had this issue as well. I narrowed it down to a different mod causing, a clean faces mod. Then it came back again later.

Concord sewers is the same way. Yet it dont affect the Workhouse or Speakeasy.

When i try to run the game with only SS the game ctd's after i walk further into the den.
Without Sim Settlements my game runs fine, i already had a 2 days playthrough with the same load order and never had issues until i wanted to play with SS and Conqueror today.

Also i had already started Jammers questline, was about to clean Walden Pond after i got the fusion core from the Den.

Yeah I spent hours chasing it, something like 30-40 attempts. I even tried using a player.moveto 1ca7d (Codsworth) to exit thinking it was a flaw with the exterior cells and it still had issues. Whenever I disabled all mods I exited fine.

The other thing I noticed was the AI scripting for molerats would go buggy sometimes and they did not move and attack, they just sat there. The same with the molerats in Concord Sewers. However it had a really low chance of occurring.

So the only thing I could figure out is there might be a scripting conflict or overload.
 
i've had that molerat bug it wrecked a game i was playing. when i went into vault 81 they would not attack and the end result was i could not recruit curie - the whole instance was borked beyond repair. i posted about it on afkmods and on here as there was a theory that it could have been related to a simsettlements addon perhaps altering a record for molerats - in the end, everything i tried didn't work. i couldnt recreate it - so i just started a new game.
i wonder, if you havent already, if you go to the secret vault in vault 81, if its the same thing where, once you agrro the molerats, you can't get curie and leave the instance? if it is, then as far ask i know, your game is toast.

yea before i attacked the molerats the game saved fine, after i started attacking them the game would hang on saving or when exiting the cave.

I will most likely make a minimum mods instance on mo2 so i can play Conqueror at some point.

I remember this has been an issue for me in Vault 88 for ages, I can't kill molerats in there because my game will CTD as soon as I try to save, there is actually a thread of topics about it at Scrap Everything mod page because that mod seems to make it more noticeable or something, don't remember how it went, anyway, the way I "fixed" that CTD with the critters, was typing "kill all" as soon as they pop out the ground, don't let them agro or hit you, and don't manually kill them yourself, there is a new command with conqueror tho which is "kah" you should use that instead, get in the molerat den, wait for them to come out , use KAH, and then try and save, tell me if it works.
 
another thing i did as a workaround was to kill all AI, so that the molerats spawn but just stand there. go around them, get curie and get out. it also happens in the vim factory in far harbour and the mole rat den under red rocket.
i never tracked it down to a particular mod because i started a new game with the same mods - didn't happen. go figure.

Ive seen people claim thats a vanilla bug and mods only make it worse, I wouldnt count it as the definite answer but it seems like people are having that bug even without mods installed
 
update:
well I cleared up my sim settlement related mods. removed pretty much all add ons except mega packs. Now it has no probably completing red rocket molerat den with conqueror installed.

for me it was when running conqueror then it happens. without conqueror and 6 or 7 faction packs on nexusmod, molerat den under red rocket has no issue.

i just got this in mad mulligan's mine where the blood worms burst out of the bodies of dead brahmin.
only realised it when i came to leave the instance, and got the infinite loading screen.
to resolve it, i reloaded my game to a point just before i went into the mine, entered the instance, issued the 'tdetect' console command which disables AI on hostiles. Went through the instance, allowed the blood worms to spawn, didn't interact with them, got to the boss bloodworm, same thing, didn't interact. when all the bloodworms had spawned, i issued 'kah' to kill all hostiles, and left the instance with the quest completed.
so i can assume from this that the bloodworms share the same ai routines as molerats and this bug can strike at any time. i'm at level 102 in my current play through and just about 80% through nuka world and it struck. dammit. stupid game-wrecking bug.
the only consolation is i'll not go back into that instance again in this play through, but it saddens me that the game is broken. again.

This can happen on any interior cell where boroughing creatures detect you.

Short term solution: Open the console and type: tdetect
This will toggle off NPC detection of you. kill them all if you must ie: mad mulligan's mine in Nuka world. Remember to type the term again once you're outside or no NPC dialogue will be possible until you do.

Long term solution: Set your virus protection software to not scan the fo4 folder and just do periodic manual scans if this is concerning to you. Set permissions, by right-clicking the fo4 folder, to full control in the properties/ security section and when prompted, enable this setting for all contained files and folders.

The long term solution may not fix your current game but should alleviate the problem on subsequent playthroughs.
