Mod Load Order fixes

Hello everyone,

I've been playing Sim Settlements 2 since launch and have been experiencing large amounts of CTD. I've been wracking my brain on what the problem could be and think it might come down to my load order. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of in-depth knowledge on how exactly to set my load order up to ensure there won't be any conflicts with Sim Settlements 2. I'm kind of at my wits end because there are instances where crashes are predictable and I have a feeling there's some sort of mod conflict (maybe I'm missing a patch or something needs to be moved to load after another mod) so I wanted to turn to the community for help.

here's some brief background information on issues I've experienced and at the end I'll post my load order:
  • The main issue is that the game will sometimes randomly CTD while I'm in a settlement- particularly when I've exited building mode. Because of the predictability of these crashes I tend to quicksave as often as I can and will often briefly exit build mode and save real quick in the middle of building due to the fact that Bethesda wasn't smart enough to implement an autosave feature for when you exit build mode.
  • There are some settlements that I can't spend more than 4 minutes in before it will CTD. Sanctuary is the main culprit along with Tenpines Bluff, but The Castle and Jamaica Plain have been known to have this issue too from time to time. I've noticed that if I hear upgrading noises in Sanctuary I will experience a crash unless I fast travel out of there, and sometimes I'll crash regardless forcing me to load a previous save.
  • I will sometimes experience CTD in the overworld, however these are very rare- honestly I experience less crashes when I'm furthest away from my settlements (such as if I'm off doing the main quest or just exploring I can do it for hours before experiencing a crash but I'm lucky enough to build for 30 minutes in my settlements without a CTD).
All of my settlements are built up to the point where I had to use "Unlimited Settlement Budget" to make sure I could get plots to upgrade. And I've completed the first chapter of the SS2 so everything is unlocked.

here is my mod load order as it's shown in Vortex- I'll put load instances in brackets because for some reason Vortex didn't want to move them:

As you can see, the list is pretty long and any help would be appreciated. The CTD aren't exactly game breaking but it would be nice to at least narrow down what the problem is. because I've set up the initial SS2 required mods in the right order and know that the combat zone, faction housing and Homeplate need to be on the bottom of the load order I'm just not sure about everything else. Any help that anyone on here could give would be appreciated.

Looking at the crash reports and your load order I do see some issues and conflicts, I mean that's not a pretty load order to begin with but give me some time and let me look up some of these mods that are in your load order. Also, do you use ENB series? In the meantime download and use this mod to clean a save ( a hard save not an autosave if possible). The directions are at the bottom of the page. It's real easy to use and won't hurt anything to check and remove anything. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22633/

These are just my suggestions take em or leave em lol.
1. I read what your issue is with WSFW I just don't understand. I use WSFW to extend my settlement budget all the time. Some settlements I have are at +350% using WSFW with like 40 SS2 plots. ( which is why I get 30fps in some of my settlements.)
2. This mod has become my best friend since using SS2 and has stopped and prevented a lot of crashes for me. Scroll down to the Power Grid section and use that. It takes 5 seconds to type the command in console and fix it if needed. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17777
3. Try the Resaver that I suggested. I use Resaver every 10 saves and like I said it doesn't hurt anything.
4. Unfortunately the crash report did not give me anything that I recognize but you can try and post it on the nexus forum and wait for a response
Other than that not much more I can suggest I was hoping the crash log would've given me something that I knew but it didn't.
Good luck hopefully one of my suggestions might work

Also, do you use ENB series?
Yes, I use an ENB but I completely forgot what the title of it was. I think it might have been Photorealistic ENB

I really wish I knew about this mod before playing SS2, my wires are all over the place in my settlements and I wouldn't be surprised if that was causing issues- several times I've had the issue where plots weren't receiving power (especially after I used the city plan for the castle) XD.
I went ahead and spent most of the day using resaver and FO4edit to see if I could work something out with it, but it looks like the issues might be beyond saving at this point. I plan on doing a full reinstall and work with less problematic changes in anticipation for chapter 2, I'm sure by the time it comes out I'll have a system that causes less conflicts while being able to produce reports if something goes wrong. pretty much it comes down to "lesson learned" however I at least have a framework of what I can lay down for my next playthrough and know what to avoid in the future.

I have had plenty of trial and error playthroughs to get where I am with the mods I use and don't. Still a lot of it. I just save more often and don't get too upset anymore about losing hundreds of hours game play. It is what it is when playing with mods.

I just hit level 100 about 20 minutes ago and and so far all has been pretty good with my game. Finished SS2 quests forever ago and just building away now just to see what all is possible. I am about to venture of to far harbor soon. Once I nail down a city plan I am working on at Breakheart Banks.

Just curious if it's not too much trouble go ahead and remove all ENB files including the dll files. Just set them aside and try it without ENB then just put the enb files back in if no difference. I'm not 100% sure on this but in that one crash log I think it is referring to the enb dll.
Also yes use that power grid mod. Every time I get in a settlement I take the 5 seconds and check the grid.

You know I have been running with ENB installed but no ENB's I will have to ditch it just to see if it helps anything with my Fast travel freeze or the occasional out of nowhere CTD. I mean no need having something i don't use messing things up.
