I just dropped one and and it is giving now indication of if its doing anything nor any message giving any bearing to it. A little light or sound would go a ways to making seem like I have something that the settlers can home in on. Also I understand the option to pick it up again as they dont come cheap, but is there way to fix it to the ground I just kicked it all over the place.

I haven't gotten around to using one yet in SS2, but if they work the same as SS1 then you need to place them in a container with the items you want picking up.
Edit: Sorry, I'm mixing up with salvage beacons.

Im not sure if anyone has picked up anything yet or not, I diddnt use salvage beacons as pointed out in another thread about this I use mods that sort make them redundant, but the concept of the new asam scanner/beacon combo I liked.

I was hoping to build 4 or 5 of radio beacons and just going around scanning cleared buildings and have the settlers pick up the junk. I do like the side effect of the asam prototype sensor though.

I have Caravan level 2, and they are not working. at all.

My theory is they connected to the Comm Hub. Because I've completed the Part 1, the Comm Hub is destroyed. Hence, no more connection.

I've had it work sense that happened. I think @Lokvette might just be skipping over the ASAM Scanner portion. You don't drop the Beacon like with Salvage beacons. You drop the ASAM Scanner and the controller quest will run and drop the beacon out of your inventory when it's complete.

If that doesn't work, might be bugged out for you.

Edit: I'd like to add the the latest public beta seems to have added the old style of Salvage Beacon, but I haven't actually used it yet.

i guess ill get on the public betas then because all of a sudden the beacons no longer function properly.
They telling me to clear the area despite everything in there is dead.

I did the Asam first as then you start seeing loot show up green and got the report. I dropped the beacon, but there was no indication of anything other than the beacon on the floor. I like the concept of this but as I play Horizons and with Amazing Follower Tweaks, I sort of auto loot everything anyway. But feeling that maybe a group of settlers would be heading out to a location and getting salvage (even if they weren't doing it physically in game so to speak) made me want to use them.

Im on version G so next time I play I might give it another look.

I’m on version g on Xbox and making beacons doesn’t seem to be option. I got a pop up of them unlocking which I didn’t really pay attention to but I don’t have option to build communication or beacons

It takes some work to get the Mk 1 Beacons going. You'll need a Caravan and Communications in range.

Once you do, the payoff is amazing. Especially if you hang out to watch. (It takes a while, but it's really cool.)

Does the caravan and communications plots need to be upgraded or just the base level?

i have both lvl2 caravan and coms in sanctuary.
Yet they cannot send anything to concord to salvage the museum or the bar for some reason.

As for range well you just made 2 plots mandatory to have in pretty much all settlements.
i would prefer that was not the case, perhaps remove the range restriction once we capture the castle?

hmmm.. I think I've hit an issue with the unique settler Amara Blackmoon, which I think might unlock salvage beacons. I can't turn in the quest after placing the tracking beacon on the Ragstag. Armara says thanks, but the quest doesn't complete. ??

Are y'all trying locations that are marked on the map as [Cleared]?
