Mechanist Lair question

So I beat the mechanist and she gifted me her lair, as she has for all of you. I’ve never tried to build there before.

here’s the question(s): after spending a couple minutes scrapping the room I got a ctd. Loaded back in, tried again, ctd’d even faster. So is this a vanilla problem, SS2 related, and does anyone know a solution? Cuz I really want to build there but right now it’s untouchable.

I LITERALLY just finished the Mechanist story and scrapped everything there myself not 30 minutes ago. It works perfectly fine for me. (The only things I didn't scrap were the catwalks, and metal grate walls on the upper stories).

I'm assuming this means it's not a vanilla, or SS2 bug.

What scrap mod are you using if any?

The only scrap mod I use is place anywhere. It doesn’t touch the precombines.

maybe I should scrap a little and save/load, then scrap a little and save/load, til I get it clear enough to test building in it. I seem to remember having problems with it unmodded tho.

If its happening WHEN you scrap an object it might be a power grid error.
Probably unlikely as it's pretty fresh, but might be good to try and rule out.

Check with workshop frameworks new power grid functions (I haven't used it much at all myself yet)
or R2K's Power Grid Tools

It's not pretty fresh, it's brand new. There is no power grid. I kill robots, get outfit, touch workshop, scrap, crash. I do scrap fast AF tho, with a xbox controller its easy to hit the scrap and confirm button at the same time, but it doesn't cause problems in other settlements. Well, I got a CTD while scrapping spectacle recently too, also hauling ass, clearing 100 trees a minute, until suddenly pbbbbbbbttttt

You may just need to go slower.

Bethesda Engine is notoriously glitchy and slow with its scripts, it could be that you're simply over saturating its logic strings and it's causing corruption.

I know if I'm doing things fast in the game repeatedly that it'll cause my game to CTD sometimes.

Hey, I had the same problem just now. My fix was to manually scrap the power generator and 2 wall mounted spotlights. Then the city plan constructed fine with no CTD. If it helps, earlier, I had repaired the power generator, so I am curious if that perhaps was the problem or contributed to it. I also suspect I didn't need to remove the wall lights, but I did on my first debug test and it worked. Thanks, this thread mentioning power tipped me off to the solution.
