Suggestion MCM Hotkey to enter build mode

Could you give WS+ an MCM option to set a hotkey to enter build mode?

I'd like to just press a button once to enter build mode instead of having to hold down the view change button, which feels unresponsive sometimes.

Thanks for suggesting that.
:agree:

It would still be nice to have this added to WS+ as a hotkey option, if it isn't hard to implement. I'll give that mod a try, but don't really feel like I need it messing with workshop loading to speed it up just to get a one-press hotkey.

The real issue I've got isn't that loading the WS is slow, just that sometimes it seems like the game just doesn't care that I'm holding the button, and sits there for a few seconds then throws me into 3rd person like "oh, is this what you wanted?"

Faster workshop will fix that problem.
The difference it makes is very noticeable.
It's a popular mod around these parts, used by many of us.
GCM also has an option to reduce the delay but I've never tried it because I use FW.

I can vouch for that, and it integrates so seamlessly that you forget you have it at all. You can assign a new hotkey to open the workshop via MCM.

Yeah, I installed it to give it a try; it makes a way bigger difference than I thought it would.

Basically, it's at "I never knew I needed this" status, and will be included in all future playthroughs. LOL
Little side note. It was developed for @kinggath a while back when he complained about how long the workshop takes to load to the author.

Just want to update this thread:

Faster workshop is no longer compatible with either W+ or Buffout 4. W+ often fails to do things like flying and faster movement with it installed. Buffout 4 because they have added code that does the same thing.

So can we get a hotkey now? Maybe in WSFW instead of W+?

Well I don't use Buffout 4 can never get the damn mod to work. And WS+ does fail to fly and speed sometimes but once I hit the hotkey or clear the console everything works. So if one doesn't use Buffout what's an alternative to faster workshop?

There isnt one that I know of.

If your having issues with Buffout 4 try my instructions in the buffout 4 section: https://arkhorse.github.io/Minimal_Mods.html. It takes a bit to get working but its worth it.

  1. Download Buffout 4
  2. Install it with Mo2
  3. Download the TBB Redistributables (second file). Install this into the games root folder
  4. Download Address Library for F4SE Plugins. Install with Mo2
  5. Download xSE PluginPreloader F4. Install it to the games root folder.
    1. Open xSE PluginPreloader.xml with notpad ++ or VS code. Dont use notepad.
    2. Change LoadMethod Name="OnProcessAttach" to LoadMethod Name="OnThreadAttach"
    3. Save it
    4. If you need it, download the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019. If you already have it installed, you dont need it again.
  6. Thats it.

I have done this 5 -6 times and MO2 will not recognize the files in the Root directory. Ever.

And here is the rub, it acts like it is working. I don't have the Achievements mod on and I am not getting the Achievement disable message like I was (Buffout Fix) and I turned off Faster workshop and I go into it just as Fast (Buffout Fix) but I get this error and have yet to get a crash log, I guess that's cause I haven't crashed yet.

Do I need to change the closing tag as well Pic 1? Also what's up with these tags See pic 2, my xml is rusty? And Yes the right things are in the Root folder.

No. Thats a definition for that loadmethod. The use of "/>" removes the need to open and close an empty node
Tried again following these steps and one more time get the same error.

Do you have the redistribution's installed? Download and install the x86 and x64 versions from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ownloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 (yes all of them).
And can you post that log?

Here you go. I just ran the game and this is my log from MO2
