martial law gunner radio won't turn on bug

during the quest martial law i can't seem to activate the radio the gunner leader leaves behind

also i'm not sure if this is normal but for some reason mansfield also drops a radio as well
 
I also wasn't able to activate the radio at first. Eventually I left the area, and re-entered and the quest was able to be progressed.

(Being a little vague for those avoiding spoilers.)

Left the entire area and even finished another quest, nothing changed

also for some reason the game seems to think algernon is present despite me not having him on my team
 
I think the problem is the quest is checking for all three of the potential characters that can be there but if one isn't it just breaks. Idunno, I tried this quest several times and it still won't work. I say this because I tried to test it thinking extended dialogue interface was the problem and I could pick a dialogue option meant for that gunner captain who goes "the gunners never used to be like this" well, he ain't here given I never allied with him.

I restarted chapter two and brought in algernon this time and then it did work

so i'm guessing you're right
 
Killed Algernon in vault 95, Here in 81 Aiden, just stands there after he told mansfield to put the radio on the table 3 rooms away... after i come to room nothing... There is a reason why the default missions have essential npc's in missions... now with all dead this mission is broke... going back to table to forcequit it. BTW I havn't done anything in Vault 81 prior this mission so I guess all them are broke now as well. Kinda essential check to do before launching this mission or..
Mansfiel recognise me , even tho i never met him before...
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the "evil" route is bugged, I'm assuming it's rarely played. (I'm calling it that cause it's very likely from the start that Algernon is on our side) It's 100% that you met Mansfield before though, unless skipping "vim and vigor" quest.

In the playthru this refer to i was actually fast forwarding a bit and did not do any quest manually since 'I done them before and was on this quest when that save totally broke.. Clearted out some mods since and is on a new playthrue, not forcing any quest except all jake meetings in Concord... have some texture issues at the harware store... and only there with transparent walls and ground. Wierd is it was not like that when starting game and rescue preston, not until jake moved in it started... a well will get to GNN eventually, since rest of the world is fine (not been in FH or NW yet tho) and i've played the quests several times it's no big issue forcing them quests
