I was making a factory town out of Starlight Drive-In, you know, hell on earth, forced labor, 18 hour days, etc.

Well my Lumberyard has become a death machine! Settler after Setter are being fed to the saw. I am fine with a few at work deaths, not really concerned with my safety record but I can't continue to loose my valuable assets. As a respectable slum lord and factory owner, I need a few people to work.

I had to re-purpose my factory into something else just to keep my settler count up.

Is this normal?

Well I don't have mortal settlers, at least to my knowledge, but every once and a while one is laying dead under the saw blade, a offering to the gods I guess.
My settlers do die during raids, maybe I will have to double check my mods, but I can't ever remember setting them to mortal.

LOL that video is great, exactly what happens to me except my settlers are dead.

I don’t have a mortal settlers mod either, but i’ve lost named settlers in raids recently. Connie Abernathy and Supervisor White come to mind. I do use Better Settlers, but made sure to not choose the mortal option — wonder if some patch or other mod is overriding that.

yeah ive lost lucy Abernathy in a super mutant raid once but she only died when I was in the settlement.
same ith my supp;y lines ive seen then die if I was close

Come to think of it, I was in both settlements when the attack happened too. Both were “pop-up” attacks that you don’t get a warning about. I hate those — they always seem to happen when I’m deep into building mode, and suddenly find myself bleeding while looking at the workshop menu.
